Newtown, Pa. (Men’s Basketball) - The Alvernia Golden Wolves were selected as the favorite in the 2025-26 conference preseason poll conducted among the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) men’s basketball coaches. The Golden Wolves received three of the first-place votes for 42 points.

Alvernia posted a 16-12 overall record, 7-7 in MAC Commonwealth play to earn the #4 seed heading into the postseason. The Golden Wolves upset the #1 seeded Albright Lions in the semifinals, advancing to the championship game against #2 seeded York Spartans.
York defeated Alvernia 82-67 to claim the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Championship title. It was the Spartans fifth conference championship in program history, but first-ever Commonwealth title. The Spartans advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they fell 62-52 to #1 ranked NYU.
The 2025-26 season is slated to begin Friday Nov. 7 with conference play starting Wednesday Jan. 7.
The 2026 MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball Championship is set for Feb. 25 through Feb. 28. The top-four seeds will battle for the conference title and the NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
