Greenwood, Ind. –
Senior defender Ethan Hagen of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team was named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.

Hagen, who boasts a 3.91 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major, was named to the Second Team, the 12th all-time Academic All-America for the men's soccer program and first since the trio of Bruno Andino, Justin Cross, and Fritz Kabeiseman were selected in 2023.

The Union, N.J. native adds the CSC honor to a postseason haul that already included United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region First Team, MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year, and All-MAC Freedom First Team recognition.

For the third straight year, Hagen was one of the most constant presences on the pitch for the Ducks, starting at least 18 matches and surpassing 1,500 minutes played, bringing his totals since the start of the 2023 season to 57 match appearances (all starts) and 4,959 minutes played (an average of 87.5 minutes per appearance).

This season, Hagen played all 90 minutes in 10 matches and helped limit the opposition to one goal or fewer 12 times. In what also became a breakout season offensively, he scored his first collegiate goal in a win over NYU, adding another goal and two assists in conference play. Following MAC Freedom Tournament shutout wins over Misericordia and Lebanon Valley, Hagen was also named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player, capping his season with an assist against Brandeis in the NCAA Tournament.
