NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending March 9, 2025. A total of 18 student-athletes were recognized for performances from March 3, 2025 to March 9, 2025.
BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Sean Curran (Widener / Gr., RHP / Upper Dublin, Pa.) earned his first win of the season against Minnesota Morris with a 7 inning complete game shutout. He did not allow a hit until the top of the seventh inning. Curran struck out nine and walked only four.
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Evan Wagaman (Messiah / Sr., OF / Chambersburg, Pa.) led the Falcons offense in a 3-0 week for the Falcons. Wagaman 7-12 on the week with a double, a triple, eight RBIs, seven runs scored, and four stolen bases. Wagaman opened the week with three hits, including a double, five RBIs, three runs scored, and two stolen bases in the Falcons 16-4 win over Dickinson. Wagaman continued his great week in the Falcons sweep over Scranton on Saturday. In the two games, Wagaman went 4-7 at the plate, including a triple, with three RBIs, four runs scored, two stolen bases, and a walk.
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Jacob Detwiler (Lebanon Valley / Jr., P / Martinsburg, Pa.) struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits in five innings to earn his first win of the year in an 8-5 victory over Wilkes. The Dutchmen provided the junior with four runs in the first inning, and Detwiler faced 19 batters before LVC went to the bullpen for the final four innings against the Colonels. The junior was efficient with 79 pitches thrown, walking just two and facing one over the minimum.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Jack Regenye (Misericordia / Sr., OF / West Chester, Pa.) hit .452 (14-31) with 16 runs in a 5-2 week over spring break. Hit safely in the first six games, including five multi-hit games. Scored in every game, including four games with three runs. Was 9-9 in stolen bases.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Grant Zick (Stevenson / Sr., M / Maple Grove, Minn.) led the Mustangs offensively with a five-point game in the team's 16-10 win over No. 13 Dickinson on Saturday. The senior midfielder collected three goals and two assists.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Nash Womack (York / Jr., GK / King of Prussia, Pa.) posted a career-best 19 saves and surrendered just five goals in a 14-7 victory at Randolph-Macon on Saturday in York's lone game last week. The junior goalie stood on his head in the third quarter as he compiled eight saves on just 11 total shots faced and only surrendered a pair as York owned a 12-5 lead with a quarter left to play. Womack has double-digit saves in all five games this season and his 19 on Saturday are tied for fifth all-time in program history.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Matthew Pergola (Stevens / Jr., A / Nutley, N.J.) tallied six goals and two assists on 14 shots against Oneonta on Saturday…recorded 10 shots on goal and three ground balls in the victory.

Nathaniel Hudgins (Arcadia / Jr., GK / Easton, Pa.) added another win to his career with the Knights 11-8 win over Emerson. The Knights were down at the half. Hudgins played the second half of the game making four saves and gaining his third win this season.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Kara Yarusso (Stevenson / Gr., M / West Deptford, N.J.) slotted a seven-point night against St. Mary's College of Maryland, in the Mustangs' 16-12 win on Wednesday. The graduate-student posted a 1.00 shot percentage on the night putting away all four shots while handing out three assists. The midfielder also picked up a ground ball and a draw control in the contest.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Bella Garabo (York / Gr., GK / Hillsdale, N.J.) posted a pair of double-digit save performances in two road wins last week for the Spartans. She began the week with 10 saves and a fourth-quarter shutout while Washington College to a season-low six goals in York's 16-6 win last Wednesday. Garabo capped off the week with 11 more saves to highlight a brilliant defense effort in York's 12-5 upset win at No. 8 Washington and Lee on Saturday. Garabo and the Spartan defense shut down a General offense which entered the day averaging 17.7 goals per game this season and held W&L to their lowest goal total since 2022. For the week, the Spartan goalie posted a .656 save percentage and allowed just 11 goals in two games.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Christina DiGuglielmo (DeSales / Jr., A / Floral Park, N.Y.) led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record last week totaling six goals and eight assists for 14 points. She had three goals and four assists in both of the Bulldogs games, wins over Goucher College and Gwynedd-Mercy University. DiGuglielmo had the game-winning goal in the win over Goucher. She now has 11 goals and 14 assists on the season over DSU's first four games.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Emily Griffith (Arcadia / Gr., GK / Easton, Md.) led the Knights on its 2-0 week. In Arcadia's 12-8 win over Albright, Griffith made eight saves, collecting eight ground balls and caused two turnovers. In the Knights 17-3 win over Immaculata, Griffith gathered three ground balls and made 10 saves. Arcadia is 4-0 to start their season.
SOFTBALL (#MACsoftball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Jania Long (Eastern / Sr., P / Deptford, N.J.) was effective in the circle in Eastern Softball's 8-2 Spring Break trip to Florida this past week. In five starts, the senior from Deptford finished with a 4-0 record, a 0.98 ERA, 10 strikeouts, and only three earned runs allowed. Her best outing came against Clark University on March 7, where she gave up just one earned run with a pair of strikeouts in a complete-game victory.

Emily Kurth (Eastern / Fy., C/3B / Toms River, N.J.) led an efficient Eastern offense last week as the Eagles finished 8-2 on their Spring Break trip to begin the 2025 season. The first-year catcher had an excellent start to her collegiate career, finishing the week with 13 hits in 32 at-bats, good for a .406 batting average, one double, one triple, and 11 RBIs. Her 13 hits and 11 RBIs were a team-high over the course of the Eagles' first 10 games. The Toms River, N.J. native finished with hits in nine of those games and recorded a pair of RBIs in four of them.

Madison Karns (Delaware Valley / So., P / New Windsor, Md.) carried the momentum from her stellar 2024 Rookie of the Year campaign into the 2025 season opener, delivering a dominant shutout performance as Delaware Valley defeated Bridgewater State. Karns pitched a complete seven-inning game, racking up nine strikeouts without allowing a single walk and surrendering just two hits. She also made an impact at the plate, doubling to right-center in the sixth inning to drive in the Aggies' fifth run of the game.

Holly Grube (Lebanon Valley / Fy., 2B / New Providence, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to a 4-4 week against strong competition in Florida with a .481 batting average, .517 on-base percentage, and .704 slugging percentage. The first-year had 13 hits in eight games with two doubles and two triples. She knocked in four runs and scored twice. She also pitched in seven games recording a 2-2 record with one save and a 1.94 ERA. Grube had five multi-hit games during the week including the last four games. She went 2-for-3 in a tough 8-0 defeat against ninth-ranked Trine and 3-for-3 in a 7-3 victory over Allegheny in a game she also earned the win in the circle. Grube also had three hits and earned the win in the circle of an 8-7 nine-inning victory over Concordia Wisconsin.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Tim Flanagan (Stevenson / Sr., OH / Chester, N.J.) had a strong week for the Mustangs. In the match against Randolph-Macon, he set a school record with 36 kills which was fifth all-time for a five-set match in NCAA Division III history. In the match against Stevens, he had 20 kills while getting 17 in the match against Messiah. He hit .282 on the week.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
JD Sarmuksnis (Stevenson / Jr., L / Long Beach, N.Y.) averaged 16 digs per match this week, including a career-high 20 in the win over Randolph-Macon.
