MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (March 24, 2025)

22 student-athletes were recognized for performances from March 17 – March 23.

NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending March 23, 2025. A total of 22 student-athletes were recognized for performances from March 17, 2025 to March 23, 2025.

BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Sean Curran (Widener / Gr., RHP / Upper Dublin, Pa.) threw his second complete game shutout of the season against Stevenson. During his seven innings pitched, Curran struck out seven and only allowed six hits on the day.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Matt Luchovick (Messiah / Jr., C / Pittsburgh, Pa.) powered the Falcons offense on the week starting with a historic game against Dickinson on Wednesday. Luchovick went 5-5 with four home runs and nine RBIs in the Falcons 15-9 win. Luchovick finished the week with a hit in the Falcons 7-4 win over Albright to put his batting average at .545 on the week. 

MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Jordan Fisse (Stevens / Jr., P / Ridgewood, N.J.) tossed a seven-inning complete game on Saturday against King's…went the distance while matching a season-high with eight strikeouts and surrendered four hits, one walk and one unearned run…lowered his ERA to 2.55 in the process.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Jack Regenye (Misericordia / Sr., OF / West Chester, Pa.) h??it .647 (11-17) with eight runs scored in a 3-1 week.  Was 3-4 in a loss at Swarthmore.  Drove in a run in the 18-2 win at Del Val. Was 4-5 with 3 runs in game one of DH vs. Del Val and was 4-4 with five runs in game two.

MEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Bobby Berg (Messiah / Jr., A / San Diego, Calif.) led the Falcons offense with an impressive 15 point week. Berg led the Falcons in the 19-11 win over the College of Wooster with five goals and five assists, tying his career high in a single game with 10 points. Berg then capped off the week with a hat trick and two assists in the Falcons tight loss to Stockton University on Saturday.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Dane Sabarese (Alvernia / Sr., GK / Delran, N.J.) finished the week with 22 saves and an 8.50 goals against average in a 2-0 week for the Golden Wolves. The senior allowed just five goals and made 11 saves in an 18-5 win over Wilkes on Wednesday. His 11 saves helped him eclipse 700 career saves. He recorded his second win of the week with an 11 save performance in a 14-12 win over Neumann on Saturday, marking Alvernia’s sixth win of the season and the best start in program history.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Hurd (DeSales / Jr., A / Schnecksville, Pa.) led the Bulldogs with five goals and an assist in DSU's two games last week. He had two goals and an assist in the 11-10 loss to Moravian University and finished the week with three goals in the 13-8 win at Montclair State University.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Chris Dindino (Misericordia / Sr., GK / Blackwood, N.J.) had 14 saves and three ground balls in a 10-6 win at Oneonta. Allowed just one goal in the final 29 minutes in the come-from-behind win.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Grace Pettitt (Messiah / So., A / Salisbury, Md.) continues to be a key part of Messiah's offense this season. In a cross-conference victory over the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley, Pettitt led the Falcons with four points on two goals and two assists in the 13-1 win. In Saturday's 16-9 win over St. Mary's College of Maryland, Pettitt again led the Falcons with seven points, scoring three goals and adding four assists.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Nesiah Bertram (York / Sr., D / Allentown, Pa.) led the Spartan defense with eight caused turnovers in a pair of wins last week. She had a banner day in the win over #20 Stevens as she tied the program record with seven caused turnovers while York had a season-high 13 as a team. 

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Hailey Linebaugh (DeSales / Jr., A / New Oxford, Pa.) led the Bulldogs with nine goals and five assists for 14 points leading the Bulldogs to two more wins last week. In the first game of the week, a 16-6 win over Elizabethtown College, Linebaugh totaled four goals and three assists. Linebaugh followed that up with five goals and two assists in the 19-6 win over Neumann University helping DSU start the season with a perfect 8-0 record.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Danielle Sieja (DeSales / Jr., M / Hamilton Square, N.J.) was a disruptive force all weekend helping DeSales post a 2-0 record tallying eight caused turnovers, eight draw controls, four ground balls, four goals, and one assist. She was the major part of a defense that allowed just six goals in each game. Sieja had four caused turnovers in each game and won 3 draw controls and scored three goals in the win over E-Town, while totaling five draw controls with a goal and an assist in the win over Neumann.

SOFTBALL (#MACsoftball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Rebecca Gottleib (Hood / Sr., OF / Linthicum, Md.) got two wins with a 4-0 sweep in doubleheader wins of Penn State Mont Alto and Alvernia. In game one while shoving seven innings of shutout ball striking out eight allowing four hits in the 6-0 feat. In the Alvernia series, Gottlieb crushed her opportunities. She scored two of four runs for the Blazers while allowing one run in the circle while striking out five allowing four hits again in the 4-1 win.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Tessa Boswell (Stevenson / Jr., SS / Hampstead, Md.) had three multi hit games last week…batted .600 across the week…had three hits in the opening game of the Widener series.

MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Gabby Cruz (Misericordia / Fy., P / Woodbine, N.J.) was 1-0 with a save and a 1.75 ERA in two appearances in a 4-0 week.  Struck out four over three innings to earn the save in a 4-1 win at PSU-Berks.   Struck out six in five innings of relief to earn the win in an 11-7 win at Del Val.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Casey Funesti (Misericordia / Jr., SS / Montvale, N.J.) hit .600 with two doubles, two homers and nine RBI in a 4-0 week.  Had a hit in every game, including three multi-hit games.  Was 3-4 in a 2-1 win at PSU Berks.  Was 3-3 with a double and a homer in an 11-7 win at Del Val.   Had two hits, including a homer, and two RBI in an 8-3 win at Del Val.

MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Richard Billings (Misericordia / Sr. / Fayetteville, N.C.) ran the fourth-fastest time (21.49)  in the nation to win the 200m at the Washington & Lee Carnival. He finished second by .01 to his teammate in the 100 (11.02).

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Ayden Stankus (Lebanon Valley / Sr. / Harleysville, Pa.) had the second-best pole vault mark in the nation on Saturday as he broke a school and facility record at LVC's season-opening Mini Home Meet. The senior cleared a career-best 4.88 meters (16'0) in the pole vault beating his previous career-best height of 4.55 meters (14'11") that he cleared in 2023, and the facility record of 15'3" that Widener's Mick Coleman had in 2013. His mark is second in Division III and first in the Mid-Atlantic Region, AARTFC, and the MAC. He also competed in the long jump where he recorded a mark of 6.49 meters (21'3.5"). His mark is ranked third in the MAC, fifth in AARTFC, and third in the Mid-Atlantic Region. 

WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Kay Wiscount (DeSales / Fy. / Mount Royal, N.J.) had a terrific start to the season taking first place in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:53.47 at the Stockton Invite. That time is the fastest in the MAC this season.

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Brandy Varner (King’s / Jr. / Plymouth, Pa.) had a great start to the outdoor season at the Monarch Invitational. She set a new Monarch Invitational and Betzler Outdoor Track record mark of 42.02 meters to win the discus and stand atop the MAC and rank third in NCAA Division III, before winning the shot put with a throw of 12.43 meters that is the best in the MAC this outdoor season and 14th in NCAA Division III. She also took fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 40.52 meters that ranks sixth in the MAC.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Tim Flanagan (Stevenson / Sr., OH / Chester, N.J.) hit .509 across two matches this week, both wins in MAC play. Had 31 kills to just four errors. Had three service aces in the win over King's. 

MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Benjamin Clendening (Misericordia / Jr., MB / Langhorne, Pa.) had 15 blocks (1.36 per set) in a 3-0 week.   Had three blocks in a sweep over Widener.  Had 11 blocks in a five-set win over Arcadia.  Had one block in a sweep over Elmira.
