MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (April 14, 2025)

20 student-athletes were recognized for performances from April 7 – April 13.

NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending April 13, 2025. A total of 20 student-athletes were recognized for performances from April 7, 2025 to April 13, 2025.

BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week

Chris Sasso (Alvernia / P, Jr. / Jackson, N.J.) pitched a scoreless 6 1/3 in Alvernia’s 1-0 win over Stevenson in the seven-inning game of the series doubleheader. Sasso scattered just three hits and struck out nine batters during his six and a third innings of work. He did not allow an extra base hit.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Logan Nelson (Alvernia / OF, So. / Glen Mills, Pa.) batted .500 in a 3-0 week for Alvernia. Nelson went 5-for-10 with seven RBIs, and three runs scored. In a 22-11 win over TCNJ on Tuesday, Nelson went 4-for-5 with five RBIs, three runs scored, and three stolen bases. He also had six putouts in center field. Nelson then capped off the week going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a stolen base in a Sunday sweep of Stevenson. Nelson also had seven putouts in center field across the doubleheader.

MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Jacob Detwiler (Lebanon Valley / P, Jr. / Martinsburg, Pa.) struck out four in six strong innings to earn the win for the Dutchmen in a 12-1 game one victory over King's. The junior allowed just three hits and walked four while facing 26 batters. Detwiler had 11 ground ball outs in the game.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Travis Kerr (DeSales / OF, Gr. / Succasunna, N.J.) batted .750 (6-for-8) with four runs scored, six RBIs, and three doubles in DSU's two games last week.  He was 4-for-5 with five RBIs in the win over Cairn and finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored against Stevens.

MEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week

Gavin Gismondi (York / A, Gr. / West Deptford, N.J.) led the No. 16 Spartans to a pair of MAC Commonwealth wins for the week. In Wednesday's win over Alvernia, Gismondi had a career-high seven points with four goals and three assists. Gismondi put five shots on goal in the win for the Spartans. On Saturday, Gismondi matched his Wednesday total with seven more points on four goals and three assists. One of his goals was a man-up goal for the Spartans in their 15-9 win over Eastern. Gismondi finished the week with eight goals and six assists for 14 points in the two Spartan wins.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Zach Rutledge (York / LSM, Sr. / Apex, N.C.) led the No. 16 Spartans to a pair of MAC Commonwealth wins as he spearheaded a strong defensive effort for the week. In the shutout win over Alvernia, Rutledge had a career-high five caused turnovers and three ground balls in the win for the Spartans. Against Eastern on Saturday, Rutledge added a caused turnover and three more ground balls. For the week, Rutlege had six caused turnovers and six ground balls in two wins in which York allowed just nine goals. He has also scored three goals as an LSM for the Green and White.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Kyle McLaughlin (Arcadia / A, Sr. / Doylestown, Pa.) collected 14 points last week leading Arcadia to two wins in conference play. On Wednesday night against Lebanon Valley, McLaughlin scored two goals and had seven assists, in the Knights 15-13 win. Against Misericordia on Saturday, Arcadia won 13-5, with McLaughlin collecting one goal and four assists.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Will Giarusso (Stevens / M, Jr. / Verona, N.J.) went 19-for-21 at the “X” this week for Stevens. He added seven ground balls in the two victories. He was a perfect 5-for-5 with two ground balls as Stevens took down King's 26-3 on Wednesday and then won a career-high 14 face-offs while adding five ground balls in the 24-2 win against FDU-Florham on Saturday.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Claire Lynch (Widener / M, Fy. / Springfield, Pa.) and the Pride rolled to a 2-0 week with a 14-5 win over Albright and a 13-4 win over Hood. Lynch would be responsible for nine goals for the week while shooting a perfect 4-of-4 in the game against the Blazers. Lynch would mark a career-high five goals against the Lions on Wednesday night. The Springfield, Pa. native would also go perfect in free-position shots each game and scooped four ground balls.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Emma Hagg (Messiah / D, Sr. / Lititz, Pa.) continues her successful leadership on defense for the Falcons in a 2-0 conference week. In Wednesday's 19-1 win over Eastern, Hagg had seven draw controls, six caused turnovers, and seven ground balls. In Saturday's 23-5 win over Albright, Hagg had three draw controls, two caused turnovers, and three ground balls.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Emily Beard (Lebanon Valley / A/M, 5th / Lebanon, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to a 2-0 week with 17 points on 12 goals and five assists with seven ground balls, six caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Beard scored six goals in each game starting with six goals on seven shots and one assist in a 17-5 victory at Arcadia. Beard then recorded her second 10-point game of the season with six goals on 10 shots and four assists in a dominant 23-1 victory over Delaware Valley.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Chloe Moser (Lebanon Valley / D, Fy. / Boyertown, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to a dominant 2-0 week in which LVC allowed just six goals on 18 shots. Moser had 25 draw controls, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers while anchoring a stifling defensive performance. The defender started the week with eight draw controls, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers in a 17-5 victory at Arcadia where the Dutchmen limited the Knights to 13 shots. She then had a program record 17 draw controls in a 23-1 victory over Delaware Valley in which LVC's stifling defense held the Aggies to just five total shots. The first shot on goal did not occur until the fourth quarter with LVC leading 21-0. Moser had two ground balls in the game which was mostly played on the Dutchmen's offensive end.

SOFTBALL (#MACsoftball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Maggie Chinnadurai (Messiah / P, Sr. / Denville, N.J.) was lights out in the circle for the Falcons, leading them to a pair of wins in the 4-0 week. In game two against Marymount University, Chinnadurai picked up the complete game shutout, striking out 13 batters in the 6-0 win. Against York, Chinnadurai came in for relief in game one, striking out two batters through one full inning in the 3-1 win. In game two, Chinnadurai pitched another complete game, striking out four batters and only surrendering one run.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Tori Hook (Eastern / 1B, Sr. / Willow Street, Pa.) put together a dominant performance in Eastern's doubleheader sweep of Neumann this past Tuesday. The senior first baseman finished a scorching 7-for-9 from the dish with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and seven RBIs in Eastern's two wins. Hook wasn't retired in the opener, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored, a double, a home run, and three RBIs. In game two, she had nearly identical numbers, going 3-for-5 from the plate with another double and home run and tying her season-high in RBIs with four. 
 
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Jessica Hsu (Stevens / P, Fy. / Torrance, Calif.) turned in a pair of standout performances in the circle for Stevens this week. She allowed just five hits and four walks over 14 1/3 innings with five strikeouts and just two runs (one earned) allowed. Hsu went 7 1/3 against Ramapo, allowing just three hits and two runs (one earned), while adding two strikeouts in a setback against the Roadrunners. She then tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout with three strikeouts and two walks against DeSales on Sunday.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Angelina Bresnen (Delaware Valley / 2B, Jr. / Morrisville, Pa.) had a standout performance, powering Delaware Valley to a dominant doubleheader sweep of Penn State Abington with two grand slams and a total of 10 RBIs on the day. In game one, after Penn State Abington took an early lead, Bresnen helped ignite a huge fourth-inning rally with an RBI single that also marked her 100th career hit. Later in the inning, she crushed a grand slam to cap off an 11-run performance for the Aggies, finishing the game with five RBIs. In game two, after PSU-Abington jumped ahead 7-0 in the first inning, Bresnen contributed in multiple ways—getting hit by a pitch, stealing two bases, scoring a run on a double, then belting a solo home run in the fifth to spark a comeback. With the game tied and the bases loaded later that inning, she delivered again, launching her second grand slam of the day to put Delaware Valley ahead for good. She also recorded a total of three stolen bases in the second game.

MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Richard Billings (Misericordia / Sr. / Fayetteville, N.C.) was the top NCAA Division III finisher and eighth overall in the 200m dash at Bucknell Classic with fastest-time in the MAC this season (21.49).

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Brayden Ecker (York / Fy. / Frederick, Md.) captured first place in the pole vault against a field of almost exclusively Division I competitors at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell. His winning height of 4.86m established a new school record, is second in the MAC this season and 14th in Division III.

WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Coyla Bartholomew (Lebanon Valley / Jr. / Danville, Pa.) ran the top 3000 steeplechase time in the conference this season at the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday. The junior ran 11:12.66 to finish 20th overall in the field of 62. Her time is 28th in Division III, sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and ninth in AARTFC this year. Bartholomew's time is the second fastest of her career.

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Anna Sawicki (Lebanon Valley / Fy. / East Brunswick, N.J.) won the heptathlon at the Messiah Invitational with a school record point total of 4214. Her point total qualifies her for the MAC and AARTFC Championships as well as being ranked 16th in the nation, fifth in AARTFC, fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and first in the MAC. Her 100 hurdles time of 16.35 seconds is 13th in the MAC and her high jump height of 1.56 meters (5'1.25") is fifth in the MAC.
