MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (February 24, 2026)

NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending February 22, 2026. A total of 29 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Feb. 16, 2026 to Feb. 22, 2026.

BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Harrison Ludington (Hood / Jr., P / Woodbridge, Va.) after the Seahawks jumped to an early lead, Ludington came into pitch and closed that door pretty quickly as he tossed four innings allowing only a pair of hits and sitting down eight batters via strikeout as the Blazers then poured it on in the second game of the doubleheader against St. Mary's of Maryland 15-8.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
AJ Haines (Hood / Jr., Shortstop / Arlington, Va.) reached base six times and scored five runs in Hood’s two-game sweep of St. Mary’s. He drew three walks in game one and followed with two hits, two RBIs, and two stolen bases in game two, serving as the catalyst for the Blazers’ offensive surge.

MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Eddie Appollina (FDU-Florham / Jr., P / Annandale, N.J.) tossed six shutout innings of one-hit baseball in a 3-2 win over Drew. He struck out seven while keeping hitters off balance across 91 pitches, anchoring the Devils’ strong start to the season.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Peter Longo (FDU-Florham / Jr., Catcher / Cherry Hill, N.J.) helped FDU-Florham open the season 2-0 by driving in five runs across two games. The junior catcher went 3-for-7 with a double and a home run, providing timely power in both victories.

MEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops) 
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week 
Elijah Hamilton (Alvernia / Jr., Forward / Coatesville, Pa.) averaged 29.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Alvernia. He recorded a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double in a must-win game against Eastern before exploding for 35 points in a victory over Messiah to close the regular season.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Jayden Thomas (DeSales / So., Guard / Allentown, Pa.) capped the regular season with a record-breaking week, averaging 35.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. He surpassed 1,000 career points — becoming the first sophomore in program history to do so — while leading DeSales to clinching the No. 3 seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops) 
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week 
Taryn Woodson (Alvernia / Sr., Forward / Harrisburg, Pa.) averaged 15 points and seven rebounds in a 1-1 week for Alvernia. She added four blocks and shot efficiently from both the field and the free-throw line, recording a 15-point, 10-rebound effort against Messiah.

MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Delaney Bell (Arcadia / Sr., Guard / Bensalem, Pa.) led the Knights to a 2-0 week and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Freedom playoffs. First on the road, Bell had 12 points in a win against FDU-Florham on 5-12 shooting, with 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block while getting her 11th double-double. Then, at home on senior day, Bell led all scorers with 21 points on 7-12 shooting from the floor, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.

MEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Ice Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Leo Cabulis (Alvernia / Fy., F / Riga, Latvia) scored the overtime game-winner with just 34 seconds remaining to lift Alvernia to a 2-1 win over Lebanon Valley in the regular-season finale. He also contributed at the faceoff X, winning 13 draws in the victory.

MAC Ice Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Chris Branch (Lebanon Valley / Sr., Goalie / Yonkers, N.Y.) made 41 saves in the season finale, keeping Lebanon Valley within striking distance despite being outshot 43-16. The senior closed his career with a standout performance, including 18 saves in the opening period.

WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Ice Hockey Offensive Player of the Week
Addi Alaoui (Lebanon Valley / Fy., F / Danville, Calif.) scored five goals in two wins to close the regular season, including a four-goal performance in an overtime comeback against Stevenson. She recorded two game-winning goals and netted the overtime clincher to complete the rally.

MAC Ice Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Mia Frisoni (Lebanon Valley / Jr., Goalie / Glenville, N.Y.) earned two victories, including her fifth shutout of the season with 28 saves against Alvernia. She added 30 saves in a 5-4 overtime win over Stevenson to help LVC close the regular season on a high note.

MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf) 
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Ian Hopkins (Eastern / So. / Fanwood, N.J.) set a new program record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22 seconds at Haverford. The mark ranks among the top 30 nationally and currently leads the MAC this season.

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Gregory Sommer (Delaware Valley / Jr. / Whitehall, Pa.) placed second in the pole vault at the Keogh Invitational, clearing 3.75 meters. His mark places him among the conference leaders heading into championship competition.

WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf) 
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Ava Butcher (King’s / Jr. / Pittston, Pa.) continued her record-breaking season by lowering her own school mark in the indoor 400-meter dash for the second time this year, clocking 59.99 to place fourth overall at Cornell on Saturday. The time ranks fourth in the MAC this season and was .82 seconds faster than her previous record. Butcher later added a second school record in the 200-meter dash, finishing second in her heat and 18th overall with a time of 26.95, breaking the previous mark by four hundredths of a second. Her mark currently ranks 12th in the MAC.

MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Tola Oyinkolade (Lebanon Valley / So. / Iselin, N.J.) posted a career-best 10.83m in the triple jump to finish third at the Keogh Invitational. The mark ranks fourth in the MAC and sits among the top 10 in program history.

MEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week 
Luke Shimko (Widener / So., Attack / Bethlehem, Pa.) recorded five goals and three assists in Widener’s 17-10 victory over Shenandoah. He placed six of seven shots on goal while also collecting three ground balls.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Colin Kane (York / Sr., Defense / Havertown, Pa.) posted four caused turnovers and seven ground balls in a 9-8 win at Franklin & Marshall. Through two games, he has helped lead a defense that has held both opponents to single-digit goals.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week 
Jack Tenaglia (Stevens / So., Attack / Oradell, N.J.) scored a career-high six goals on seven shots in an 18-8 win over Springfield. His efficient performance fueled the Ducks’ dominant offensive outing.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week 
Colin Brockman (Arcadia / So., FOGO / North Brunswick, N.J.) went 22-of-30 at the faceoff X across two games, adding 12 ground balls. He currently leads the conference with an 81% faceoff win percentage.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Claire Lynch (Widener / So., Midfielder / Springfield, Pa.) matched her career high with five goals, including the game-winner against Swarthmore. She scored three goals during a decisive run that helped secure the program’s third-ever win over the Garnet.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Sydney Mentzer (York / Sr., Midfield / Red Lion, Pa.)  controlled eight draws and added five points in a 15-6 win at Mary Washington. She also contributed defensively with two caused turnovers in the victory.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Christina DiGuglielmo (DeSales / Sr., Attack / Floral Park, N.Y.) helped DeSales post a 2-0 record last week totaling eight goals and six assists for 14 points. She had three goals and four assists in the 11-10 (OT) win over Marywood University, scoring the game-winner in OT. DiGuglielmo added five goals and two helpers in the 20-7 win over Gwynedd-Mercy University. She added two ground balls.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Ryann Gross (Misericordia / So., Goalie / West Islip, N.Y.) posted a 57.9% save percentage and 8.00 goals-against average in two wins. She recorded 17 saves against Marywood, including three on free-position attempts.

MEN’S TENNIS (#MACtennis)
MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Max-William Kanz (Stevens / Sr. / Wethersfield, Conn.) earned victories at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a 6-1 team win over Virginia Wesleyan. He secured a straight-set singles victory and paired for a 6-2 doubles triumph.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Brandon Sharp (Messiah / Jr., Setter / Brentwood, Calif.) dished out 93 assists across 10 sets in a 3-0 week, including a 40-assist performance against No. 9 Southern Virginia. He also surpassed 2,000 career assists, becoming just the second player in program history to reach the milestone.

MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Benjamin Clendening (Misericordia / Sr., Middle Blocker / Langhorne, Pa.) averaged 7.5 blocks per match in a 2-1 week. He totaled 15 blocks across two four-set matches and helped anchor the front row in a sweep of Hartwick.

WRESTLING (#MACwrestle)
MAC Men’s Wrestler of the Week 
Sidney Dillon (Stevens / Fy. / Conifer, Colo.) captured the Mideast Futures title at 149 pounds with a dominant 4-0 performance. He pinned all four opponents, including two inside two rounds and a semifinal victory in under 90 seconds.

MAC Women’s Wrestler of the Week 
Savannah Witt (Eastern / Fy. / Kintnersville, Pa.) won the NCAA Region 2 Championship at 124 pounds to improve to 28-1 on the season. She secured the title with a technical fall in the final and remains unbeaten against NCAA competition this year.
