BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - York College freshman Trinity Batista clinched All-America status in the high jump on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Batista cleared a top height of 1.64 (5' 4.5") to finish tied for 14th place out of 19 and earned the honor of Second Team NCAA All-American.
The Spartan freshman is the first indoor NCAA All-American in York women's track and field history and the first freshman indoor national qualifier. She joins Julia Pena (outdoor) as the only other NCAA All-American in program history for either indoor or outdoor.
Batista's leap of 1.64m matches the second-best of her collegiate career so far and is just shy of her personal-best of 1.67m. Serena McNeilly from Centre College won the event with a height of 1.79m. Middle Atlantic Conference gold medalist Maggie Previglian finished 19th with a height of 1.59m
