#6 Spartans Lock Down Colorado in NCAA Second Round Clash 5/9/2026 9:03:00 PM Story Courtesy of York Athletics LYNCHBURG, Va. - The sixth-ranked York men's lacrosse team allowed just one second half goal to secure an 11-4 victory over Colorado College in an NCAA Second Round matchup on Saturday hosted by the University of Lynchburg. Team Records RV Colorado: 12-3 #6 York: 19-1 Highlights The Tigers held the upper-hand through the first five minutes of play and jumped out to a 3-1 lead. Colorado won back-to-back faceoffs to string together a three-goal run in a two-minute span with 9:52 left in the opening period. The Spartans went on to post three defensive stands and turned their defense into offense with a pair of goals, including a miraculous full-field heave by defenseman Bear Evans, to tie the score, 3-3, at the end of the first period of play. Neither team found the back of the net in the second quarter and Colorado goalie Robert Spence made five saves as he faced a barrage of 11 total shots by the Spartans. York broke the scoreless drought when Davis Fisher finished a feed from Gavin Gismondi 2:25 into the third quarter and Colby Berard tacked on another goal 23 seconds later on the man-advantage. York ended up out-scoring the Tigers, 4-0, in the third quarter with Cory Bergmann fueling the Spartan fire with three assists in the period. The Spartans continued to dominate in all three phases as the fourth quarter unfolded which resulted in a 4-1 scoring margin. The York faceoff unit kept the momentum rolling with a 5-for-6 performance in the final period highlighted by a 4-for-4 effort by Brady Watts. The York defense shined all day as they went on to hold the Tigers to a season-low four goals. The Spartans posted shutouts in both the second and third quarters while holding Colorado scoreless for 50 minutes after the Tigers went up 3-1 early in the first quarter.
