Reading, Pa. (May 13, 2026) - Alvernia University Director of Athletics and Recreation Cory Beddick announced on Wednesday the promotion of Nick Anderson to the role Director of Athletic Communications.

Anderson, who joined the Alvernia staff in a full-time capacity in 2022, has served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications since 2024. In his new role as the Director of Athletic Communications, he will replace Marisa Lombardo. Lombardo, who has led Alvernia Athletic Communications since 2021, announced on Tuesday her transition to the role of  Assistant Athletic Director of Recreation and Operations.

"I am pleased to announce that Nick Anderson has agreed to step into the role of Director of Athletic Communications," said Beddick. "There is no doubt in my mind that Nick is ready for this challenge - to build upon the great work that has been done in that office and put his own spin on how Alvernia Athletics is presented. He has the work ethic and people skills to truly thrive in this role, and he has played an integral part in the significant progress the office has made over the last several years."

Anderson began with Alvernia as a work-study for all four years as an undergrad student at Alvernia. Upon his graduation from Alvernia in 2022 with a Bachelor's in Sport Management, Anderson was hired as the Athletic Communications Assistant.

"I am extremely excited and honored to step into this role," said Anderson. "As a graduate of Alvernia, I am committed to the University and its student-athletes. I am excited to continue to showcase them and tell their stories in any way possible. I really believe that this is a special place, and there is nowhere else I'd rather be."

"I am very excited to continue building onto the framework we have built as a top athletic communications office, and I am excited to continue elevating our content to not only maintain being at the top of the MAC, but also in Division III Athletics," added Anderson.

In 2024, Anderson was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Operations. In his role, he took a lead on enhancing Alvernia's broadcasting efforts, worked on website coverage and maintenance, and assisted with Alvernia's social media efforts.

"Nick is more than ready to take on this new role," said Lombardo. "He has been an integral part of our staff since the day he joined on full time in 2022. I am proud of the work he has done and how he has grown from the time he came in as a first year student until today. I am excited to see what he does taking this next step."

In the lead role of the Athletic Communications Office, Anderson will coordinate the promotion and coverage of Alvernia's athletic programs and student-athletes. He is tasked with the management of auwolves.com, Alvernia's social media platforms, statistics, broadcasting, and multimedia coverage.

"I would like to thank Marisa for her constant guidance, support, friendship, and leadership over the last four years, as well as having the faith in me to step into this role," said Anderson. "Without her, I would not be where I am today and I cannot express how thankful I am to have had the privilege of learning under her direction."

"I would also like to thank Cory Beddick, Megan Corrigan, Rayne deMarteleire, and the Athletics Senior leadership for having the confidence and faith in me to be the next leader of the Alvernia Athletic Communications office," added Anderson.

Anderson will begin the transition into his new role in the coming weeks with a full transition taking effect on July 1. A search for a new Assistant Athletic Communications Director to replace Anderson will begin in the coming weeks.
