Session Descriptions
Session I: The Ins and Outs of an Interview • Jenn Noon (Fairleigh Dickinson) & Larissa Gillespie (Widener)
This session will prepare you for both the phone and face-to-face interview process. Session leaders will advise you on what to wear, questions you should ask, how to follow-up, and what to expect throughout the entire process. Leaders will provide sample questions and hold mock interviews amongst the participants to prepare you for your career. Remember to bring your resumé; there will be an informal resumé workshop throughout the day to allow you to get personalized feedback from coaches and administrators in the conference.
Session II: If you were the coach, what would you say? • KristaLee Mellott (Hood)
This session will focus on the expectations of a coach's communication. The session will cover topics such as: who coaches speak with, how to effectively communicaate in different scenarios, as well as give a glimpse into the importance of communication while networking. There will be an activity to help participants understand how to handle tough questions and how being prepared and confident will contribute to their success.

There are many challenges young coaches face when taking over a program. This session will address some of those challenges and help develop good decision-making skills.
Keynote Luncheon: Sharon Taylor (Lock Haven University)
Sharon E. Taylor served as Director of Athletics at Lock Haven University from 1988 to 2012. Taylor was responsible for coordinating and directing LHU's 18 intercollegiate sports. The former women's field hockey coach at LHU, Taylor earned an impressive 333-96-27 record at the helm of the Lady Eagles from 1973-95, making her the winningest coach in Lock Haven history. Taylor guided The Haven to six national championships, seven additional national championship or semi-final appearances, and seven PSAC titles. Taylor was President of the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA) from 2001-2006. From 1987-2000 she represented USA Field Hockey on the Board of Directors of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). A tireless advocate for issues of civil rights and fairness in society, Taylor has worked to expand opportunities for girls and women in education, and in sport and athletics competition since the advent of the passage of Title IX in 1972. Taylor has supported the expansion of opportunities for women without diminishing programs that serve men. She is recognized nationally as one of the pioneers for athletics equality and a continuing source of commitment to the promise of Title IX. Sharon Taylor will share of message with symposium participants to "lean in" through stories of her experiences in her varying roles from coach to administrator.
Session V: The Many "Hats" of Coaching • Robin Fedor Stahovic (Misericordia) & Laura Patton (King's)
This session will explore the many hats a coach may wear in a single day (mentor, lawyer, social director, travel agent, fundraiser, counselor, etc.). The session will also address how to balance professional and personal responsibilities, as well as athletic department or institutional responsibilities beyond coaching duties.
Session VI*: Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball
These sessions are voluntary to attend and will address fundamentals of coaching each particular sport. Coaching philosophies will be shared from one or two coaches from the conference, as well as drill ideas and other resources for coaches of that particular sport.
