The MAC Institutinal Sportsmanship Award was created to reward the outstanding overall sportsmanship at MAC institutions. The award began during the 2001-02 academic year. The award is voted on by the individual institutions' coaches, and is presented to a male and female athletic preogram in the MAC Commonwealth and MAC Freedom. The first year of the award was given to just one male and one female athletic program.
