Marie (Godwin) Stroman is the Associate Executive Director of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). She was named Coordinator of MAC 100 in July 2011 to oversee the conference's year-long centennial celebration. Stroman became Assistant Executive Director in July 2013 when the conference received the Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant. Her title was elevated to Associate Executive Director in October 2015.
She is responsible for implementing special events including coordinating all aspects of the MAC cross country, individual tennis, swimming, golf, track & field, and wrestling championships. Her duties also include serving as a staff liaison to the MAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and administration of the Division III Strategic Initiatives Grant Program. She is a trained facilitator for the Gameday the DIII Way sportsmanship program, providing the in-person training to every MAC institution.
Since 2019, Stroman has been appointed the secretary/treasurer of the Division III Assistant Commissioners Group (D3ACG). She completed a four-year term on the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee in 2018. Stroman organized successful bids to host various NCAA Division III baseball regional championships, as well as the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Division III field hockey championships at Spooky Nook Sports. Her work in coordinating Mid-Atlantic Region Commissioner Association (MARCA) Ethnic Minority Careers in Athletics Symposiums (EMCAS) earned the organization the distinction of the NCAA Division III March 2019 Diversity Spotlight.
Prior to joining the MAC, Stroman worked in special education at Chanhassen High School in Minnesota. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Educational Studies from Macalester College in 2010, and a Master of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington in 2014. While at UW, Stroman secured an NCAA research grant to examine the role of recruiting in the sport of men's lacrosse. As an active member of Women Leaders in College Sports she has been a participant of the Women's Leadership Symposium, Institute for Administrative Advancement, and Executive Institute.
Stroman is a former women's volleyball student-athlete, serving as chair of the Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and an active member of the NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct. She was instrumental in establishing the NCAA Division III partnership with Special Olympics, resulting in hundreds of thousands of athletes stepping up to volunteer and fundraise. On the volleyball court, she was a two-year captain and four-year starter for the Fighting Scots, and voted team MVP her senior season.
Originally from Chaska, Minn., Stroman now resides in Swarthmore, Pa. with her husband Logan, children Levi and Layla, and dog Stout.
