#MACunited Series - Normalize the Conversation Surrounding Mental Health

Part two of the #MACunited series encourages breaking the stigma surrounding mental health

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) is proud to announce part two of the #MACunited series, Normalize the Conversation Surrounding Mental Health. The objectives of part two of #MACunited are both to help student-athletes, coaches, and administrators help break the stigma surrounding mental health and provide resources for mental health during the pandemic.

The MAC will host Ivy Watts whose personal story of struggle as a student-athlete shed light on metnal wellness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health. Watts will also focus on how to deal with uncertainty, staying motivated during COVID-19, being patient with yourself during tough times, and ultimately knowing that it is okay not be okay. Watts will also share self-care techniques, online resources, and the power of positivity.

In continuing to discuss mental health openly, the MAC hopes to build upon the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee #BreakTheStigma campaign that was announced at the 2020 NCAA Convention last January. This campaign provides a platform for student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to start the discussion and to speak out on breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
