ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conferences Spring Academic Honor Roll, which notes academic excellence by student-athletes, contains 533 honorees as announced by Executive Director Ken Andrews. The Honor Roll comprises those student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing.
Messiah led in total selections with 75, while Misericordia was second with 53 student-athletes. Elizabethtown was third with 46 followed by King's with 42, Manhattanville (34), Wilkes (33), and FDU-Florham with 30 athletes. Widener was eighth (28), followed by Lycoming (26), Alvernia, DeSales and Eastern tied with 25, Albright (23), Arcadia (21), Delaware Valley (18) and Shenandoah (8).
Featured on the Spring Honor Roll are several tennis standouts; Commonwealth Players of the Year, Jansen Hein of Messiah and Sarah Grodzinski of Lebanon Valley, and Freedom Player of the Year Michael Capozzi of Manahttanville. Also on the honor roll are MAC women's lacrosse Player of the Year, Stephanie Kries of Elizabethtown, softball standouts; Commonwealth Player of the Year, Rhiannon Sorrentino of Alvernia, and Freedom Pitcher of the Year Lindsey Hoerner of King's, Freedom Golfer of the Year, Mike Cresci of Manhattanville and Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Colby Miller of Elizabethtown, Student-athletes are selected from baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's outdoor track and field and golf.
