ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Albright College graduate Scott Pillar (Keansburg, N.J./Keansburg) completed rookie minicamp with the St. Louis Rams over this past weekend.

Pillar is signed to a three-year rookie free agent contract, with no guaranteed money. He has stayed in St. Louis for offseason team activities, with training camp set to start in six weeks.

Approximately 60 players attended the Rams rookie minicamp, which included draft picks, free agent signings and tryout players. Pillar had a good showing catching the ball, and also fielded some punt returns as well.

“I felt I could keep up athletically, although the plays were a more professional style offense with longer routes and different types of throws,” said Pillar.

“The quarterback could throw the ball in different spots to make up for space and where the defenders were.”

The two-time Division III All-American also noted the impressive athleticism of both the opposing defensive backs in the NFL camp (a majority of which came from top Division I programs), and the other receivers- a group that included high draft picks Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey (both out of West Virginia).

St. Louis has just three wide receivers returning from last year's active roster- Chris Givens (42 catches, 3 TDs), Austin Pettis (30 catches, 4 TDs) and Brian Quick (11 catches, 2 TDs). The team has brought in several other rookie free agents along with Austin, Bailey, and former practice squad members Raymond Radway and Nick Johnson.

2012 reception leaders Danny Amendola (New England Patriots) and Brandon Gibson (Miami Dolphins) both left as free agents this offseason.

Pillar totaled 200 receptions, 3323 receiving yards and 35 TD catches over his Albright career, but began to get more exposure as a pro prospect following his impressive performances at the National Bowl Game and several combines/pro days. Heading into draft weekend, D3football.com had him ranked as the sixth most likely Division III player to get picked up by an NFL team.
