Sorrentino Award History
ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced Ken Andrews, MAC Executive Director, as the 2020 recipient of the MAC Lou Sorrentino Award on Wednesday.
Named after the long-time former Lebanon Valley College athletics administrator, the MAC Lou Sorrentino Award is presented to the MAC athletics administrator who has had a sustained and influential role in conference and national affairs and embodies the NCAA Division III philosophy. Sorrentino served Lebanon Valley College as a student-athlete, coach, and athletic director for nearly 60 years, from 1950 until his passing in November of 2010.
Andrews is concluding his 20th and final year of service to the MAC on June 30. He has been the conference executive director since May 2000.
Over the last two decades, Andrews has overseen what seems to be an endless list of achievements.
One of the first responsibilities he took on was finalizing the two separate NCAA Division III automatic qualifiers (AQs) that several of the conference sports benefit from today.
During his tenure, Andrews has grown the MAC while the landscape of Division III conferences has shifted with the movement of institutions. He has added seven new conference members, including most recently Stevens Institute of Technology and York College (Pa.). The conference has also added four new conference sports including women’s golf, men’s and women’s ice hockey and men’s volleyball. Now at 40 conference championship events, Andrews created eight of those since taking the reins of executive director.
Below are several more highlights of Andrews’ success at the MAC.
