ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Oct. 10, 2021. A total of 20 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 4-10, 2021.
During the fall season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the fall segment of their seasons.
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Logan Horst (Messiah / Jr. / Rising Sun, Md.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Horst won the DeSales Invitational 8K race against a field of 189 runners with a time of 26:11.8. The junior led the Falcons to a second-place team finish out of 17 teams.
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Olivia Visaggio (Misericordia / Sr. / Wantagh, N.Y.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Visaggio won the DeSales Invitational 6K race against a field of 179 runners with a time of 22:48.9. The senior led the Cougars to a first-place team finish out of 19 teams.
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Makayla Malcolm (Messiah / Jr., F / Strasburg, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Malcolm provided two late tallies to lift Messiah over Alvernia, 2-1, on the road on Saturday in a battle of the remaining conference unbeatens. The Falcons trailed 1-0 before Malcolm scored the equalizing goal with 6:07 remaining on the clock. Less than two minutes later, the junior forward notched the game-winning goal, her team-leading ninth goal of the season.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Corinne Kearney (Lebanon Valley / Sr., GK / Mount Airy, Md.) went 3-0 while making 13 saves and allowing just two goals for Lebanon Valley last week. In LVC's 4-1 win over Elizabethtown, Kearney allowed just a goal while making five saves. The senior followed that up with a 1-0 shutout of Juniata where she made three saves. Kearney made five saves in the Dutchmen's 2-1 win over Montclair State to finish the week.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Aryana Muscara (Stevens / Sr., D / Freehold, N.J.) led Stevens to a perfect 3-0 record, as she produced five goals and an assist on the week. In the first game of the week against Drew, Muscara netted her first career hat trick with three goals on just three shots in the 4-0 win. Then against Wilkes, Muscara added two more goals and an assist in a 6-0 shutout of the Colonels.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Gretz (Misericordia / Sr., GK / Elkridge, Md.) led the Cougars to a 2-0 week including a shutout over Juniata. Gretz finished the week with six saves and one goal against. In a 2-0 win over Juniata, Gretz made two saves on three shots faced. The senior then made four saves in a 3-1 win over FDU-Florham in a matchup of conference unbeatens.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Will Earhart (Stevenson / Sr., F / Camp Hill, Pa.) scored a pair of game-winning goals last week for the Mustangs. In a 1-0 double-overtime win against Hood, Earhart scored the game-winner in the 108
th minute of play. The senior then scored in the 80
th minute of a 1-0 win over Eastern.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Kristian Slaby (Stevenson / Jr., GK / Columbus, N.J.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Slaby earned a pair of conference shutouts over Hood and Eastern. In the 1-0 double-overtime win against Hood, the junior made two saves. Slaby then made five saves in the 1-0 decision against Eastern.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Cristiano Hocken (Stevens / Gr., F / New Providence, N.J.) recorded seven points on two goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Ducks. In a 6-0 win over Delaware Valley, Hocken scored a pair of goals and added an assist. Hocken then added two assists in a 3-2 win over King’s.

Jake Varrato (Arcadia / Sr., GK / Allentown, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Varrato made eight saves in a 1-1 week for the Knights. The senior opened the week with three saves in a 2-0 win over DeSales. Varrato then made five saves in a 1-0 setback to Misericordia.
WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Anna Morton (York / Jr., F / Spring Grove, Pa.) assisted on the game's opening goal in the 56th minute in a 2-1 win over Rowan. In the Spartans' first MAC Commonwealth victory, Morton had two goals and an assist in the 5-0 win over Alvernia. Morton scored two of the first three goals of the game and then assisted on York's fourth goal of the game. She finished the week with two goals and two assists for six points in the two wins for York.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Keegan Caffrey (Stevenson / Sr., GK / South Windsor, Conn.) repeats as conference player of the week for her third of the season. Caffrey recorded 12 saves in a 1-0-1 week where she allowed just one goal per game. In a 2-1 win over Hood, she made seven saves. Then in a 1-1 draw against Eastern, Caffrey made five saves.

Sam Monteforte (DeSales / Jr., F / Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with a pair of game-winning goals. Monteforte opened the week with two goals in a win over Arcadia, and then scored the winner in a 2-1 win over FDU-Florham.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Tara Bender (King’s / Sr., GK / Lincoln University, Pa.) finished the week with 21 saves in 208 minutes of action. Bender was brilliant in a 0-0 draw against Stevens, making 12 saves on 29 shots faced. The senior made nine saves in a 3-2 setback to FDU-Florham to begin the week.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Mackenzie Blevins (Stevenson / Sr., S-RS / Elkton, Md.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Blevins led the Mustangs to 3-0 week while recording 74 assists, 35 kills, 11 aces and .345 hitting percentage. In a 3-2 win over Messiah she recorded 18 assists, 12 kills (.243), three aces, 11 digs and five blocks. She recorded 30 assists, 15 kills (.480), six aces and eight digs against Catholic. Blevins finished the week with 26 assists, nine kills (.364), two aces and 10 digs against Virginia Wesleyan.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Amanda Dahlman (Messiah / Gr., DS / Cedarburg, Wis.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Dahlman finished the week with 60 digs. Against Stevenson, Dahlman recorded 20 digs which led the Messiah on the night in a five-set loss. Against Elizabethtown, Dahlman racked up a season high 26 digs as well as totaling seven assists. In a 3-0 win against Rutgers-Camden, she once again led the team in digs with 14.

Parker Adkins (Stevens / Fy., OH / Euless, Texas) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Adkins led Stevens to a 3-1 record. Adkins racked up 39 kills, 47 digs and a .257 attack percentage on the week while also recording two double-doubles. In the first match of the week, Adkins produced 11 kills on just 19 swings for a .368 attack percentage in a sweep of Wilkes. She then had her first double-double of the week against Susquehanna with 10 kills and 16 digs in four sets. She closed out the week with an 11-kill, 14-dig effort in a sweep of York.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Chu (Stevens / Sr., L / Old Tappan, N.J.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Chu led the Ducks to a 3-1 week. In the 3-0 sweep of Wilkes, Chu produced 15 digs with zero reception errors and an ace. She followed it up with 24 digs and an ace against Susquehanna and 19 digs and an ace versus Rochester. In the last matchup of the week, Chu produced 20 digs, two aces and a kill in a win over York. Chu helped Stevens hold each opponent on the week under a .160 attack percentage.
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Michael Shusta (Stevens / Sr. / Groton, Mass.) had a great start to the season in the pool for Stevens, earning two wins and a runner-up finish in the Widener Relay Meet. As a member of the 150-breaststroke relay team, Shusta teamed up with two other student-athletes for a final time of 1:28.24 to take gold. He was then a member of the 500-freestyle relay team that touched in first place in a time of 4:26.22. Finally, Shusta joined the 200-freestyle relay team that earned a second-place finish in 1:31.33.
MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Melissa Misurelli (Stevens / Fy. / Manahawkin, N.J.) earned a win and two runner-up finishes in the opening meet of the year. She started the meet with a win in the 1500-freestyle relay, helping the Ducks touch in a final time of 17:34.96. She then earned silver in the 400-freestyle relay and the 150-backstroke relay with final times of 3:55.66 and 1:30.29, respectively.
