MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (Oct. 18, 2021)

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Oct. 17, 2021. A total of 20 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 11-17, 2021.
 
During the fall season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the fall segment of their seasons.
 
 
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
 
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Logan Horst (Messiah / Jr. / Rising Sun, Md.) repeats as conference runner of the week for his third of the season. Horst finished third out of 168 runners with a time of 26:11.2 at the 8K Aubrey Shenk Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College. The junior led the Falcons to a second-place team finish out of 15 teams.
 
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Alexa Thompson (Misericordia / Sr. / Schenectady, N.Y.) was the top MAC finisher at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle. Thompson finished 23rd out of 275 runners with a time of 23:06.4 in the 6K race. The senior led the Cougars to a seventh-place team finish out of 35 teams.
 
 
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Jennie Young (Messiah / Sr., F / Lititz, Pa.) led the Falcons to a pair of conference wins to clinch a berth to the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Championship with eight points on four goals. In a win over Hood, she scored one goal on two shots. Young followed that with a hat trick on just five shots against Eastern.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Lauren Seubert (Messiah / Jr., D / Camp Hill, Pa.) led the Falcons defense to allow just one shot on goal over two conference wins to clinch a berth to the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Championship. Seubert did not allow a shot on goal against Hood, and just one shot came against Eastern. The junior also scored her first career goal in the win against Eastern.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Haleigh Flukey (FDU-Florham / Sr., F / Ocean City, N.J.) recorded nine points on four goals and two assists in a 1-1 week for the Devils. She opened the week with two goals on four shots against Stockton. Then in a 5-1 win over Wilkes, Flukey scored two goals and added two assists.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Ellie Glatz (King’s / So., GK / Exeter, Pa.) was spectacular in goal during a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory over Marywood making a remarkable 27 saves including two penalty strokes saves in the first quarter. Glatz had her career-high by halftime recording 14 saves in the first half. The 27 saves are the second-most in program history, the most in the MAC this season, and ninth in all of Division III. The sophomore also recorded four saves in an overtime setback to Delaware Valley.
 
 
MEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Iliass Zouita (Stevenson / Sr., D / Fallston, Md.) contributed on both game-winning goals to keep the Mustangs unbeaten in conference play. In a 3-2 double-overtime win against Widener, the senior assisted on the game-winner on a corner kick. Zouita then scored the game’s only goal in a 1-0 decision against Albright.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Danny Castillo (Hood / Gr., GK / Puerto Cortes, Honduras) had a career week in goal for the Blazers. In the two games this week, Castillo kept Hood in the game by making 19 saves against McDaniel and Widener combined. Against McDaniel, Castillo made 8 saves in the 110 minutes played. At Widener, Castillo led the comeback for the Blazers after tallying 11 saves to keep the Pride from pulling away.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Aziz Atiyeh (King’s / Jr., M / Whitehall, Pa.) recorded four points on two goals for the Monarchs. Atiyeh scored both of his goals in a 4-1 win over DeSales, including the second and deciding goal.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Wilke (Lycoming / So., GK / Mercerville, N.J.) played 175 minutes of scoreless soccer in a 1-0-1 week that helped the Warriors move into a five-way tie at the top of the MAC Freedom standings. Wilke was key in 0-0 double overtime tie with 24th-ranked Swarthmore, making six saves for his third shutout in five starts. He made one save in double overtime against the Garnet. Wilke added three more saves in 66 shutout minutes of Lycoming's 3-1 win over FDU-Florham.
 
 
WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Autumn Bieber (Albright / Sr., M / Mertztown, Pa.) led the Lions to a 2-0 week in conference play with a goal and an assist. Bieber scored a goal in a 2-0 win over York to begin the week. The senior then assisted on the game-winning goal of a 1-0 win over Stevenson on Saturday.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
McKenna LeVan (Albright / Fy., GK / Pine Grove, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. LeVan posted a pair of shutouts against York (2-0) and Stevenson (1-0). The first-year goalie made eight saves on 16 shots faced against York, and then made five saves against Stevenson.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Allie Trick (DeSales / Jr., F / Telford, Pa.) recorded six points on two goals and two assists in a 5-1 win over King’s. Trick scored two goals on just three shots.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Erica Blackburn (FDU-Florham / Jr., GK / Marlboro, N.J.) earns her third conference weekly award of the season. Blackburn recorded two shutouts in 135 minutes of conference play while making 14 saves. In a 2-0 win over Lycoming, she made 13 saves on 18 shots faced. Blackburn only needed to make one save in the win over Delaware Valley.
 
 
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Shannon Baily (Stevenson / Jr., OH / Annadale, Va.) led the Mustangs to a 4-0 week with 34 kills (2.43 per set) while hitting .231. The junior hit .407 with 12 kills and just one error in a 3-2 win over Stockton. Baily record 13 kills for a team-high in a 3-0 win over Arcadia.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Abby Diehl (York / Jr., S / East Berlin, Pa.) led the Spartans to a 3-0 week with a team-high 35 digs (.318 per set) and nine blocks. In a 3-2 win over Lebanon Valley, Diehl recorded 16 digs and five blocks. She had 7 digs and four blocks in a 3-0 win over Neumann. Diehl capped the week with 12 digs in a 3-0 win against Drew.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Liz Patterson (Stevens / So., OH / Midland Park, N.J.) started the week with 15 kills while hitting .303 in a 3-1 victory over Skidmore. She then tallied double-digits once again versus Wentworth with 10 kills on 20 swings for a .350 attack percentage. In the final contest of the week against Babson, Patterson set a new career-high with 18 kills while also adding seven digs to lead the Ducks to a 3-2 win. Overall, Patterson averaged 3.31 kills per set while hitting .292 to earn All-Tournament team honors in the Babson Quad Tournament.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Ali Koval (Lycoming / Fy., L / Mansfield, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Koval averaged 7.40 digs over three matches for the Warriors. Koval became the first Lycoming player to post 40 digs in a match since 2010 with 40 in a 3-1 win over Hood. The first-year libero had 19 digs against Elizabethtown and 15 against DeSales.
 
 
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
 
MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Jacob Booth (Lycoming / Sr. / Wallingford, Pa.) posted two individual wins and a relay win in Lycoming's 111-60 dual meet win, its first over the Albright since 1995. Booth finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.19), the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.45) and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay to a first-place finish, posting a 23.58 split in 1:33.44 winning time for the Warriors.
 
MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Megan Misurelli (Albright / Jr. / Manahawkin, N.J.) won two individual races and one relay race in the Lions’ 95.5-75.5 season opening dual match win over Lycoming on Saturday. Misurelli won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.70 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.34. She capped the day by helping the 200-yard freestyle relay team win with a time of 2:06.93.
