MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (Oct. 25, 2021)

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Oct. 24, 2021. A total of 20 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 18-24, 2021.
 
During the fall season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the fall segment of their seasons.
 
 
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
 
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Isaac Valderrabano (York / Jr. / Glenmoore, Pa.) was the top MAC finisher at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Invitational with a third-place finish. He ran the 8K race in a time of 27:41.4. The Spartans finished second in the team standings.
 
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Zoe Tomko (King’s / Fy. / Port Trevorton, Pa.) led the entire 6K race running a time of 23:17.4 to lead King's to a second-place team finish as the top Division III team at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Invitational on Friday afternoon. Tomko won the race by 47 seconds and ran her career-best time by 43 seconds. Her time is the 10th fastest time in program history since 2001.
 
 
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Collis (York / Sr., F / Red Lion, Pa.) started the week with five points on two goals and an assist in the 4-0 Commonwealth win over Alvernia. Collis scored the first two goals of the game in the win over the Golden Wolves. She assisted on the Spartans' third goal of the game. In the win over the Eastern Eagles on Saturday, Collis assisted on the Spartans' second goal of the game as York earned a 3-0 road win for their 13th win of the year. Collis finished the week with six points on two goals and two assists.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Wallace (York / Jr., GK / Crofton, Md.) picked up a pair of shutouts as the Spartans went 2-0 this week to increase their win streak to five. On Saturday, Wallace made six saves, including three in the final quarter to post the shutout win on the road at Eastern. In the Wednesday win over Alvernia, Wallace made one save on the three shots she faced to pick up the shutout. For the week, Wallace made seven saves on the 13 total shots she faced in the two clean sheets.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Emilee Vizzuso (FDU-Florham / Sr., M / Montville, N.J.) scored three goals and added one assist for seven points in a 2-0 week for the Devils. Vizzuso registered one goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Arcadia and then tallied a pair of goals on the road in a 5-1 win at Delaware Valley.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Megan March (FDU-Florham / Gr., GK / Glen Burnie, Md.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. March led the Devils to a 2-0 week with 13 saves in 120 minutes of action. March posted a complete game 3-0 shutout win against Arcadia, which included a diving save on a penalty stroke, and allowed just one goal in a 5-1 win against Delaware Valley.
 
 
MEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Noah Roche (York / Fy., F / Westminster, Md.) came off the bench to net a pair of goals in the 3-0 win over the Blazers. Roche netted a goal in the 78th minute and then tallied an insurance goal less than two minutes later. He did his damage in just 22 minutes of play off the Spartan bench. He scored his two goals on just three total shots for York.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Sean Quirk (Lebanon Valley / Sr., GK / Dover, Del.) was strong in net for the Dutchmen as LVC went 2-0 on the week in conference play. Quirk opened the week with 13 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Alvernia. The senior made three more stops in a 2-1 victory at Hood on Saturday.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Steven Warren (Arcadia / Fr., F / Schwenksville, Pa.) has scored a goal in the opening 15-minutes of the Knights past three games - including two goals this week. The first-year scored in the 14th minute of a 2-0 win versus FDU-Florham on Tuesday. He then scored in the seventh minute of a 2-1 victory at King's College to help the Knights claim sole possession of first place on Saturday.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Nathan Hatzfeld (DeSales / Sr. / Lebanon, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Hatzfeld recorded two shutouts last week leading the Bulldogs to two 1-0 MAC Freedom wins. He had one save in the 1-0 win over Delaware Valley and two saves in the 1-0 win over Lycoming.
 
 
WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Caitlyn Findlay (York / Sr., M / Selinsgrove, Pa.) recorded six points on three goals in a pair of conference wins over Hood and Eastern. Findlay scored the opening goal in the 2-1 overtime win against Hood. Findlay hit the crossbar in the overtime coming close to ending the game. On Saturday, she scored a pair of goals in 3-1 win over Eastern.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Jocelyn Umana (Lebanon Valley / So., GK / Ephrata, Pa.) recorded a pair of shutouts while making six saves in conference play against Alvernia and Hood. Umana made three saves against Alvernia while facing four shots, and then made three saves on eight shots faced against Hood.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Meghan Foley (DeSales / Jr., F / Medway, Mass.) recorded 10 points on four goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week in conference play. Foley scored a hat trick in the win over Delaware Valley. She followed that performance with one goal and two assists in a win over Lycoming.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Hannah Landis (Wilkes / So., GK / Red Hill, Pa.) recorded 12 saves in a pair of 1-0 decisions. The sophomore made three saves in a 1-0 win over King’s. Landis then made nine saves in a 1-0 setback to Stevens.
 
 
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Mackenzie Feight (Messiah / So., OH / Coopersburg, Pa.) led the Falcons to four-straight wins this week and has been a dominant force in Messiah’s seven match winning streak. Feight had 20 kills in a 3-2 upset over Eastern on Wednesday. She followed that up with a 21-kill performance in a 3-2 win against Rowan Friday night. Feight then tacked on 13 kills in a 3-0 win at DeSales. She finished the week with 59 kills, seven aces, five assists and 45 digs.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Amanda Dahlman (Messiah / Gr., DS / Cedarburg, Wis.) earns her third conference weekly award of the season. Dahlman led the Falcons to four-straight wins this week. Dahlman had 22 digs in an 3-2 upset win over Eastern on Wednesday. She added 25 digs in a 3-2 win over Rowan on Friday and added nine against DeSales. Dahlman finally had 11 digs against SUNY Canton to wrap up the weekend. Dahlman has been a key factor to the Falcons seven straight wins.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Carroll (Wilkes / Jr., Opp. / Jim Thorpe, Pa.) helped Wilkes to a 2-2 week with a strong performance. For the week the junior totaled 43.0 points, 34 kills and seven aces. Carroll also recorded 59 digs and four blocks. She recorded a career high 13 kills during a 3-2 victory over New Jersey City where she added three aces. In a 3-2 win over Penn State Berks, she had 12 kills and two aces.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Chu (Stevens / Sr., L / Old Tappan, N.J.) earns her third conference weekly award of the season. Chu had at least 10 digs in each match to lead Stevens to a 3-1 week. Chu produced 15 digs, three assists and an ace in the sweep of Lycoming to start the week before posting a 20-dig performance against Catholic. On Saturday, Chu racked up 18 digs, three aces and two assists in the win over Montclair State and closed the week with 10 digs against No. 13 NYU. In total, Chu produced 63 total digs and 4.5 digs per set on the week.
 
 
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
 
MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Jonus Gurski (Misericordia / Jr. / Woodbridge, N.J.) won three individual events in a season-opening dual meet with Arcadia. Gurski swam two top times in the conference and a second-best conference time. The junior won the 50-yard breaststroke (27.81 seconds) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.66) with conference-best times. He also won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:00.25.
 
MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Kate Bernauer (Misericordia / Sr. / Parsippany, N.J.) won three individual and one relay events in the season-opening dual meet against Arcadia. Bernauer swam MAC-best times in the 100-yard freestyle (55.51 second), 200-yard freestyle (2:01.65) and 200-yard medley relay (1:53.97). The senior won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:20.47.
