ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Oct. 31, 2021. A total of 23 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 25-31, 2021.
During the fall season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the fall segment of their seasons.
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Logan Horst (Messiah / Jr. / Rising Sun, Md.) earns his fourth conference weekly award. Horst won the 2021 MAC Men’s Cross Country individual title with a time of 26:33.2 in the 8K race at DeSales. The junior led the Falcons to their fourth team championship. Horst was named to the All-MAC First Team and earned MAC Runner of the Year honors.
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Lauren Wick (Lebanon Valley / Sr. / Harrisburg, Pa.) earns her fourth conference weekly award of the season. Wick won the 2021 MAC Women’s Cross Country individual title with a time of 23:08.3 in the 6K race at DeSales. The senior led the Dutchmen to a third-place team finish. Wick was named to the All-MAC First Team and earned MAC Runner of the Year honors.
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Kate Dickow (Messiah / Jr., M / Lititz, Pa.) scored a pair of goals in the Falcons’ 5-1 win over Stevenson. Dickow scored the first two goals of the game in the first quarter. The tallies were the first goals of a five-goal outburst, leading the Falcons to their seventh-consecutive victory.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Lily Coln (Messiah / Jr., GK / St. Louis, Mo.) made her career debut as a goalkeeper in Messiah’s 5-1 win over Stevenson. The junior made four key saves in the win, including a save on a breakaway to preserve a 1-0 lead.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Ashlyn Barton (Arcadia / Fy., M-F / Chambersburg, Pa.) recorded eight points on four goals in a 2-0 week for the Knights. Barton scored one goal in the win against Delaware Valley. The first-year player then scored her first career hat trick in the win over Eastern.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Kayla Yeatman (DeSales / So., GK / New Castle, Del.) led the Bulldogs to a pair of wins over Alvernia and King’s while making 11 saves on 25 shots faced. She made four saves in the win over King’s, and then she made seven saves against Alvernia.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Emmanuel Hewitt (Eastern / Jr., F / Chambersburg, Pa.) scored a pair of goals in a 2-0 week for the Eagles. He scored a game-winning goal on a free kick in the 80
th minute of a 3-2 win over Widener. Hewitt then scored in the ninth minute of a 4-1 win at Albright.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Lucas Mueller (Wilkes / Fy., M-D / Dusseldorf, Germany) recorded five points on two goals and one assist in a pair of conference wins to qualify for postseason play. Mueller scored a goal and added an assist against Delaware Valley. The first-year player then scored the game-winner against DeSales to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Cole Catherman (King’s / Fy., GK / Selinsgrove, Pa.) made 18 saves in 180 minutes of two conference wins to clinch the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. Catherman opened the week with nine saves in a 2-1 win over Lycoming. The first-year goalkeeper then made nine saves in a 1-0 shutout against Misericordia. It was his first career shutout. Catherman recorded an assist on the game’s first goal against Lycoming.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Jenna Terenchin (York / Sr., F / Reading, Pa.) led the Spartans with a pair of game-winning goals against Stevenson and Widener. Terenchin has scored in three-straight games to lead the Spartans to the postseason.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Cat McCarty (York / Sr., GK / York, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. The senior recorded two shutouts against Stevenson and Widener to clinch a spot in the postseason. McCarty only needed to make one save in the win over Stevenson. She made six saves in the win over Widener.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Emma Sweitzer (Misericordia / So., M / Dallas, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Sweitzer recorded 12 points on five goals and two assists. In a 10-2 win over DeSales, the sophomore scored three goals and added two assists. She then scored two goals in a 5-0 win over King’s.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Hannah Landis (Wilkes / So., GK / Red Hill, Pa.) repeats as conference player of the week for her second of the season. Landis made 11 saves in a 1-1 week for the Colonels. Landis made 10 saves against DeSales after only needing to make one save against Delaware Valley.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Bridgette Kelly (Eastern / Fy., MH / Coatesville, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Kelly recorded 29 kills with just three hitting errors to hit .426. The first-year middle hitter also had six aces. In a 3-0 win over Lebanon Valley, Kelly recorded 14 kills with no errors to hit. 700.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Sydney Wilber (York / Jr., MB / Middletown, Md.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Wilber led the Spartans with 13 blocks (1.63 per set) on the week. She matched her career-high with eight blocks in a 3-2 setback to Eastern. Wilber then recorded five blocks in a 3-0 win against Dickinson.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Caroline Garretson (DeSales / Jr., MH / Huntington, N.Y.) earns her third conference weekly award of the season. Garretson recorded 51 kills while hitting .286 with seven aces in a 3-1 week for the Bulldogs. The junior hit double-digit kills in three matches including 18 (vs. Stevens), 15 (vs. Neumann) and 11 (vs. Stockton). She had a week-high three aces against Stevens. She also had nine blocks and 14 digs.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
McKenzie Brady (DeSales / Jr., L / Falls Church, Va.) earns her third conference weekly award of the season. Brady led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 week to clinch the top-seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The junior libero recorded 72 digs (4.5 per set). She recorded 25 (vs. Stockton), 19 (vs. Neumann), 17 (vs. Delaware Valley) and 11 (vs. Stevens) digs.
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Janis Kirsis (Arcadia / Jr. / Spring Valley, N.Y.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Kirsis won a pair of individual events and contributed to a relay win in Saturday's dual meet at Albright. He won the 200-yd freestyle (1:50.16) and 100-yd butterfly (54.56) before contributing to the winning 200-yd freestyle relay with an anchor leg time of 22.54.
MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Katherine Brown (Lycoming / Jr. / Glenside, Pa.) led the Warriors in a dual meet with Stevenson with three top-MAC times. Brown won the 50-yard freestyle in personal-best 24.78 seconds, the 100-yard freestyle in personal-best 55.01 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.57.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Alex Rivet (Stevenson / Fy., F / Lewistown, Maine) recorded four points on two goals and two assists in the opening weekend of the 2021-22 season. Rivet scored his first collegiate goal and added an assist in a 4-4 tie with SUNY Canton. In the second game against the Roos, Rivet scored a goal and assisted on the game-winning goal of a 4-1 win.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Paterson-Jones (Wilkes / Jr., G / Baldwinsville, N.Y.) anchored the Colonels to the Buffalo State Bengals Classic tournament title while making 42 saves with a .933 save percentage. Paterson-Jones made 23 saves in a 5-2 win against Fredonia (.920). The junior then made 19 saves in a 2-1 win over Buffalo State (.950). He was named to the all-tournament team.
WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Ariel Williamson (Arcadia / Fy., F / Rome, N.Y.) scored the first goal in program history for the Knights. Williamson gave the Knights a 1-0 lead in the second period against Worcester State. Later in the second period, the first-year forward set up her teammate on a power play for a 2-0 lead.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Sophia Szelag (Arcadia / Fy., G / East Windsor, N.J.) was impressive in the opening weekend of Arcadia’s inaugural season. Szelag made 78 saves with a .901 save percentage over two games. Szelag made 40 saves against Worcester State, including 15 in the first period and 16 in the third period. In the first game against Worcester State, the first-year goaltender made 38 saves.
