ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Sept. 19, 2021. A total of 18 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Sept. 13-19, 2021.
During the fall season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the fall segment of their seasons.
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Stephen Kober (Misericordia / Sr. / Hawley, Pa.) won the Cougar Classic with a 6K time of 20:48.70. Kober had a 5:35-mile pace that led him to finish nearly 20 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. The Cougars won the team title.
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Olivia Visaggio (Misericordia / Sr. / Wantagh, N.Y.) won the Cougar Classic with a 3-mile time of 18:52.30. VIsaggio had a 6:17-mile pace that led her to finish 51 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Misericordia also took home the team title.
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Makayla Malcolm (Messiah / Jr., F / Strasburg, Pa.) scored four goals in the first half against Juniata to lead the Falcons to an 8-0 road win. Of the four first-half goals, two were unassisted tallies.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Riley Sullivan (Stevenson / Sr., D / Parkville, Md.) had an impressive performance in a 2-1 setback to Shenandoah. Sullivan kept the Mustangs in the game with four defensive saves in the game. In an 8-0 win over Lancaster Bible, she anchored a defense that did not allow a shot in the game.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Tyra Wingle (DeSales / Jr., F / Branchville, N.J.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Wingle led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with three goals on six shots. The junior scored all three of her goals in a 6-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Grace DeThomas (DeSales / So., D / Souderton, Pa.) was a key member of a defense that allowed just one goal and eight shots on goal in a 2-0 week. She led a defense that allowed just five shots and shutout Gwynedd-Mercy on Wednesday, and three shots on goal and one goal in the 4-1 win over Juniata on Saturday. DeThomas played all 60 minutes in both games on defense and added a goal on the offensive end in the win over Juniata.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Bill Hanratty (Albright / Sr., F / Warminster, Pa.) scored three goals for six points in two games for Albright this past week. He netted both Lions goals in their 2-1 win over Penn State Brandywine on Thursday before adding a goal against Rosemont on Saturday night. Thursday's contest was Hanratty's first multi-goal game since 2018.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Kristian Slaby (Stevenson / Jr., GK / Columbus, N.J.) led the Mustangs to a 1-0-1 week while making six saves on 36 shots faced. Slaby made three saves in a 2-2 draw against Johns Hopkins, and then made three saves in a 3-1 win over Catholic.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Oliver Trujillo (FDU-Florham / Jr., M / Bridgewater, N.J.) led the Devils to a 2-0 week with wins over Centenary and Farmingdale State as he posted two goals and one assist for five points. On Wednesday against Centenary, Trujillo registered the first goal of the game in the seventh minute and tallied the assist on the game winning goal in the 74th minute. Then, on Saturday at Farmingdale State, Trujillo score FDU’s second goal of the game in the 74th minute leading to an eventual 3-2 overtime win for the Devils on the road.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Tiernan Grey (FDU-Florham / Sr., GK / Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Devils to a 2-0 week while making 12 saves on 34 shots faced. The senior made five saves in a 3-2 overtime win over Farmingdale State. Grey then made seven saves in a 2-1 win over Centenary.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Kyla Gibson (Alvernia / Gr., M / Warminster, Pa.) recorded 10 points on four goals and two assists in a 2-1 week for the Golden Wolves. Gibson scored four goals and added an assist in a 7-2 win over Clarks Summit. The midfielder then added an assist in a 1-0 win over Immaculata.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Keegan Caffrey (Stevenson / Sr., GK / South Windsor, Conn.) totaled 14 saves for the Mustangs over two contests. Caffrey made three saves on nine shots faced in a 1-1 draw against St. Mary’s. The senior was impressive in a 1-0 setback to DeSales, making 11 saves on 24 shots faced.

Bella Green (Lycoming / Jr., F / South Williamsport, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Green totaled 12 points on four goals and four assists to lead the Warriors to a 3-0 week. She scored one goal in a 2-0 win over Penn College to begin the week. In a two-day span, Green scored a goal with three assists in a 9-0 win over Bethany before scoring twice with an assist in a 7-0 win over Wilson.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Alexis Benedetto (Misericordia / Gr., GK / Hauppauge, N.Y.) did not allow a goal in 140 minutes of action while making six saves on 11 shots faced. She made four saves and did not allow a goal in 64 minutes of a 7-1 win over Cortland. She followed that with two more saves in a 5-0 win over Moravian.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Bridgette Kelly (Eastern / Fy., MH / Coatesville, Pa.) led the Eagles to a 4-0 week, including a win over perennial conference favorite Stevenson. Kelly recorded 32 kills while hitting .444. In a win over Stevenson, the first-year had 10 kills (.400) with two aces, three digs and five blocks. Kelly totaled nine kills (.318) with four aces against Franklin & Marshall. She did not record a hitting error against Rowan (.462) or Goucher (.875) to finish the week. Kelly added nine aces and 13 blocks during the week.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Amanda Dahlman (Messiah / Gr., DS / Cedarburg, Wis.) helped Messiah to a an even 2-2 record this week, totaling 51 digs across four matches. She had 16 digs in a 3-2 win against Cabrini University as well as 16 against Neumann University. Dahlman earned All-Tournament Team for her defensive efforts on the weekend.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Olivia Bunch (King’s / Sr., MH / Hanover, Pa.) led the Monarchs with 27 kills on 52 attempts with only five errors, hitting .423, with 18.5 points, nine digs, a block, and an ace. Against Delaware Valley, Bunch led the match with 13 kills, hitting .323, with seven digs and a block for 13.5 points. Then in a 3-0 home win over Keystone, the senior led with 14 kills on 21 attempts, hitting .571, with two digs and an ace for 15 points.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Danielle Doyle (Arcadia / So., MB / Dover, Del.) tallied nine blocks in 12 sets played as the Knights went 4-0 on the week. The middle blocker collected a career-high six blocks versus FDU-Florham - including two solo blocks. Doyle also had three total blocks versus Lycoming.
