MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (Sept. 6, 2021)

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Sept. 5, 2021. A total of 18 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Sept. 1-5, 2021.
 
During the fall season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the fall segment of their seasons.
 
 
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
 
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Josh Noble (Arcadia / So. / Newtown Square, Pa.) took first-place at the Griffin Open with a time of 17:55.8 in the 5K. Noble had a 5:46-mile pace to claim the first individual victory in program history. He finished six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Noble, who made his cross country debut for the Knights, moved into fourth all-time in the program 5K leaderboard.
 
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Tate Dawson (Arcadia / Gr. / Doylestown, Pa.) won the Griffin Open with a program-record 5K time of 19:26.70. Dawson’s 6:15-mile pace helped her finish two minutes ahead of the field. Dawson broke the program record by two minutes, and she is the first individual winner in program history.
 
 
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Madi Radnoff (Widener / Sr., F / Mount Airy, Md.) notched four goals and one assist for a career-best nine points in a 7-0 win over Delaware Valley. Radnoff leads the conference in goals, points and shots on goal (7) through the first weekend of the season.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Hayley Taylor (York / Sr., D / York, Pa.) anchored the defense in holding Wilkes to just four shots in the 7-0 shutout win. On Sunday, Taylor got the job done defensively as she picked up a huge defensive save with just over five minutes left in regulation as the Spartans were clinging to a 2-1 lead against St. Mary’s (Md.). She also made a big play with 40 seconds left in regulation as she stole a pass and pushed the ball up the field as time ran out.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Tyra Wingle (DeSales / Jr., F / Branchville, N.J.) recorded eight points on three goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs to a pair of 3-0 wins. Against Moravian, Wingle had one goal and two assists. The junior then scored two goals against Muhlenberg.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Witmer (DeSales / Sr., D / Lancaster, Pa.) led the Bulldogs to two 3-0 shutouts to begin the season against Moravian and Muhlenberg. Witmer played all 120 minutes to anchor a defense that allowed just 10 shots, four on goal, during the week.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Lucas Strange (Lebanon Valley / Jr., F / Blandon, Pa.) was crucial to LVC going 2-0 during their opening weekend. Strange began the week with a pair of goals in LVC's 4-1 victory over Bridgewater. He followed that up with a game-winner in the 89th minute to top TCNJ 2-1.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Keegan Brade (York / Jr., GK / Front Royal, Va.) made his season debut with a 110-minute shutout against preseason MAC Freedom favorite Lycoming in which he made six saves, including three in the second half and one in each of the overtime periods. In the 2-1 victory over Arcadia, Brade rallied back from a goal in the 19’ as he went on to shut out the Knights the rest of the way while Arcadia owned the advantage in total shots.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Xavier Guerreiro (Wilkes / Fy., M-F / Newtown, Pa.) had an immediate impact in his first two collegiate games. Guerreiro scored one goal on one shot in a 4-3 win over Penn State-Berks, and then the first-year scored the game-winner in the 75th minute of a 1-0 decision against McDaniel.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Aedan Boriotti (Stevens / Sr., GK / Sea Girt, N.J.) faced 16 shots and made seven saves in the season-opening 0-0 draw against SUNY Cortland. Boriotti made six saves in regulation, and one save in overtime.
 
 
WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Megan Meyer (Stevenson / Sr., M / Howell, N.J.) scored the first goal of the season for the Mustangs in a 1-1 draw at Ursinus on Saturday. Meyer’s goal came in the 70th minute of play.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Cat McCarty (York / Sr., GK / York, Pa.) led the Spartans went 1-1 for opening week. McCarty registered seven saves in the 1-0 setback to Franklin & Marshall to open the season. The lone goal she allowed came on a penalty kick midway through the second half. McCarty had previously kept the Diplomats off the board with a trio of spectacular saves. In the Saturday 2-0 win over Penn State - Harrisburg, McCarty pitched her third career shutout.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Bella Green (Lycoming / Jr., M / South Williamsport, Pa.) finished the week with eight points on three goals and two assists. The junior scored two goals and added two assists in an 8-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy. Green then scored a goal the next day in a 2-1 setback to Mount Aloysius.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Hannah Landis (Wilkes / So., GK / Red Hill, Pa.) stood tall against an onslaught of 35 shots faced in a 1-1 week against Penn State-Berks and Ithaca. She recorded five saves in a 4-1 victory against PSU-Berks, and then she added on another 12 saves on 25 shots faced in a tough 1-0 loss at Ithaca. She recorded a conference-leading 8.50 saves per game to start the season as well.
 
 
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
 
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Elle Jiron-Bujanda (Eastern / So., S / Denver Colo.) led Eastern to a 4-0 week with wins over Arcadia (3-0), Neumann (3-0), Salisbury (3-1) and McDaniel (3-0). The sophomore setter recorded 127 assists (9.78 aps) and 14 service aces (1.08 saps), while hitting .250 with 12 kills. Jiron-Buhanda also recorded 36 digs (2.77 dps) and one block.
 
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Madeline Dutterer (Widener / Sr., DS / Gibbsboro, N.J.) recorded 60 digs while helping Widener beat Swarthmore, Goucher, and St. Mary’s. She had a match-high 25 digs in Widener’s come-from-behind five-set win over St. Mary’s. Dutterer totaled a team-high 17 digs in a sweep of Goucher College, and she made a match-high 18 digs in a sweep of Swarthmore.
 
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Caroline Garretson (DeSales / Jr., MH / Huntington, N.Y.) led the Bulldogs to a 2-2 record with 50 kills and hitting .330. Garretson had double-digit kills in all four matches, including a match-high 14 kills against Rutgers-Camden. She had 13 kills with no errors (.591) against Washington (Md.). She added two aces and eight blocks.
 
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Ali Koval (Lycoming / Fy., L / Mansfield, Pa.) paced Lycoming's defense with an average of 7.08 digs per set (85 total) during 2-2 week for the Warriors. Koval posted 17 digs a piece in matches against Manhattanville and in three-set sweep of La Roche. She then posted 33 digs against Penn St.-Mont Alto and in a three-set win over defending CSAC champion Notre Dame (Md.) totaled 18. Koval added three aces.
