Spartans Top Pick in MAC Commonwealth Softball Coaches's Preseason Poll

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Softball) – The York Spartans were selected as the favorite in the 2022 conference preseason poll conducted among the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) softball coaches. The Spartans’ number one pick was determined by first-place votes from seven of eight opposing coaches.

2021 was a historic season for the reigning MAC Commonwealth champion York Spartans as it was their first conference title in program history with a double header win over the Messiah Falcons.

The Spartans advanced to the NCAA tournament the following weekend, where they fell to No. 14 St. John Fisher  York finished the season with a 20-11 record overall, 11-5 in conference play, and received votes in the final national ranking of the season. Junior Daphney Adams was named to the NCAA All-Region Tournament Team as well as 2021 MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the year.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III preseason poll will be announced on Tuesday, February 8 and each following Tuesday through the end of the 2022 season. 

The 2022 season is set to begin Monday, Feb. 28. Conference place will begin on Saturday, Mar. 19 with a 16-game seven-week schedule. 

The 2022 MAC Commonwealth Softball Championship is set for May 5-7. The top-five seeds will battle for the conference title and the NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
