ANNVILLE, Pa. (Baseball) – The York Spartans were selected as the favorite in the 2022 conference preseason poll conducted among the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) baseball coaches. The Spartans collected seven of eight first-place votes from opposing coaches for a total of 63 points.

In 2021, the York Spartans claimed their first MAC Commonwealth baseball title with two wins over the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen. This win secured the Spartans’ first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2012.
The Spartans advanced to the NCAA tournament second round where they fell to No. 19 St. Thomas. York finished their historic season with a record of 28-10 overall and 16-4 in conference play.
D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) preseason poll will be announced every Tuesday for the duration of the 2022 season beginning Mar. 1.
On Jan. 15, First baseman Graduate Student Jack Berry and Senior Shortstop Austin Denlinger were named to the D3baseball.com 2022 Preseason All-America Team. In the preseason D3baseball.com poll, York received votes giving them 32 points.
In the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball preseason poll released on Dec. 12, 2021, the Spartans were ranked at No. 22 with 227 points.
The 2022 season is set to begin on Saturday, Feb. 12. Conference play will begin on Tuesday, Mar. 29 with a 16-game five-week schedule.
The 2022 MAC Commonwealth Baseball Championship is set for May 3, 6-7, 13-14. The top-five seeds will battle for the conference title and the NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
