MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (Nov. 21, 2022)

10 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Nov. 14-20

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Nov. 20, 2022. A total of 10 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Nov. 14-20, 2022.
 
 
 
MEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Payton Lewis (Lebanon Valley / So., G / Sumter, S.C.) earned all-tournament team honors at the National Beef Susquehanna Tip-Off Tournament following two strong showings that saw the guard average 21 points. Lewis started the weekend with a career-high 30 points, four assists and a pair of rebounds. He shot 9-of-14 from the field, 6-of-9 from three and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. The sophomore followed that performance with 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.
 
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Mo Terry (Lycoming / Sr., G/F / Severn, Md.) averaged just over 20 points per game during a 1-1 week for Lycoming. Terry tied his career-high with 24 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals in a dominant 93-69 victory over Penn College, going 9-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arch. He wrapped up the week with 17 points and five rebounds in a six-point loss to No. 10 Johns Hopkins.
 
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Laci Johnson (Stevenson / So., G / Herndon, Va.) led Stevenson to a season-opening win over Goucher on Wednesday, scoring 19 points and recording two steals. Johnson followed with another solid offensive showing, scoring 17 points in a close loss to Eastern Connecticut State.
 
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Jess Broad (Stevens / Gr., G/F / Morganville, N.J.) averaged 24.5 points and seven rebounds over a pair of Stevens victories. Against TCNJ, Broad made eight of her 15 attempts from the floor, while also grabbing five rebounds. Against Montclair State, she made 13 of her 17 attempts from the floor and six of her eight free throws to finish with a career-high 32 points and one rebound shy of her second double-double this season. Broad also totaled seven blocks, four steals and four assists.
 
 
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Drew Iannucci (Arcadia / Fr., F / Lincoln University, Pa.) had three goals and an assist for four points over the Knights' weekend series against Lebanon Valley. Iannucci scored a goal just 38 seconds into the game in the 4-4 tie on Friday night, and then scored two goals and added an assist in Arcadia's big 7-1 win over the Dutchmen on Saturday.
 
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Jeb Lindy (Arcadia / So., G / Nashville, Tenn.) picked up the win in Arcadia's 7-1 victory as he made 28 saves, and had a .965 save percentage.
 
WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Shelby Guinard (Lebanon Valley / Sr., G / Lunenburg, Mass.) made a season-high 48 saves including the 1,000th save of her career in a hard-fought 4-0 defeat at No. 5 Nazareth on Friday night. The senior held the high-scoring Golden Flyers to their lowest goal total of the season. She made 12 saves in the first period, 17 in the second, and 19 in the third. Nazareth scored two power-play goals and Guinard held the Flyers to 2/9 on power-play opportunities taking a total of 26 shots in 13:07.
 
 
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Shane Stauffer (Arcadia / Jr. / Shillington, Pa.) swam to a lifetime best time, two season best times and a program record time at the Misericordia Cougar Splash Invitational. He touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.15, cutting .57 off of his previous personal best time. Stauffer swam the 50-yard freestyle in 21.52 for a second-place finish and a new season best time .68 faster than his previous best. He also earned a season best and third place in the 100-yard backstroke (54.47). Stauffer lead off the first place and program record breaking 200-yard medley relay squad with a split of 24.78 and total time of 1:35.31. His times in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relay are current top-times in the MAC this season.
 
MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Mikayla Scardino (Arcadia / Fr. / Souderton, Pa.) swam to three personal best times and a record-breaking relay time at the Misericordia Cougar Splash Invitational. She finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.44, dropping .05 seconds for a new personal best time. She touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle (53.63) dropping 1.05 off of her previous personal best time. Scardino also placed 4th in 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.17, shedding 2.56 off of her previous best. She brought home the first place 400-yard medley relay squad beating Misericordia by almost a second. Finally, Scardino lead off the program record breaking 200-yard freestyle relay, earning third place and setting a new school record by .19 seconds. Her times in the 100-yard freestyle and 400-medley relay are a MAC best, while she ranks second in the 50-yard freestyle.
 
 
WRESTLING (#MACwrestle)
MAC Wrestler of the Week
Hunter Gutierrez (Stevens / Sr. / Lacey Township, N.J.) was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the prestigious CUW Open. Each of Gutierrez's five victories came with bonus points as the Lacey Township, New Jersey native totaled three pins, a tech fall and a major on his was to a 149-pound title.
