ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending March 27, 2022. A total of 18 student-athletes were recognized for performances from March 21 - 27, 2022.
During the spring season golf and tennis weekly awards will be announced on Tuesdays following any competition that occurs during the spring segment of their seasons.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Mason Nissley (Messiah / Jr., OH / Manheim, Pa) earns his second-straight and third overall conference weekly award of the season. Nissley led Messiah to a 3-0 week with conference wins over Stevenson, Eastern, and Misericordia. He hit .470 on the week totalling 48 kills in nine sets and added eight service aces.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Owen Hanzelman (Messiah / So., L / Lancaster, Pa.) helped Messiah defensively to a perfect 3-0 week to clinch a spot in the 2022 MAC championship. Hanzelman finished the week with 21 digs in nine sets.
BASEBALL (#MACBaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Kasey Caras (Messiah / Sr., OF / Phoenixville, Pa.) led the Falcons to a 2-2 week, including a 4-3 victory over No. 9 Rowan. Caras went 6-for-12 with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored, five RBIs, a sac fly and a stolen base. He had hits and RBIs in all four of Messiah’s games finishing the week with a .500 batting average, 1.167 slugging percentage, and a .632 on base percentage.
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Josh Monturo (Messiah / Sr., P / Bayport, N.Y.) pitched 7.2 innings for the win over No. 9 Rowan on Saturday in game two of the double header. Monturo didn’t record the victory, but was able to keep the Falcons in the game striking out five batters and holding the Rowan offense to a .167 batting average and just one run until the eighth inning. The senior pitcher’s performance was just enough for Messiah to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn what became the victory.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Billy Scanlon (DeSales / Sr., 1B / Westminster, Md.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Scanlon led DeSales’ offense last week betting .750 in three games. He went 9-for-12 with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs. Scanlon’s best game of the week came against Misericordia in the first game of their double header where he went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk, three runs scored and five RBIs.
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Gage Coudriet (Wilkes / Sr., P / Phillipsburg, Pa.) earned the victory in his only start of the week against Penn College. Coudriet held Athletics to five scoreless innings in the 6-2 victory. He allowed only three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
SOFTBALL (#MACsb)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Jocelyn Pfleiger (Hood / Fy., 1B / Quakertown, Pa.) led Hood to a 2-1-1 week including a conference sweep over Alvernia. Pfleiger extended her hitting streak to 17 games going 7-for-17, five of those seven hits for extra bases including three home runs. Her best game of the week came in game one against Alvernia where she homered twice in a come-from-behind victory tying the school record. Overall, the first year scored four runs, had two doubles, eight RBIs, and two multi-hit games.
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Jordan Walter (LVC / So., P / Lebanon, Pa.) led LVC to a 4-0 week appearing on the mound in all four games, including the program’s first-ever sweep over No. 15 Moravian. The sophomore recorded a pair of complete-game wins and a pair of saves over both Morovian and Stevenson. Overall, she held her opponents’ offense to a .172 batting average in 16.2 innings pitched allowing only 10 hits, four earned runs, four walks, and she struck out six.

Miranda Bohn (Misericordia / Sr., DP / Nanticoke, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Bohn led Misericordia to a perfect 4-0 week with doubleheader sweeps over Alvernia and Albright. She went 7-for-13 with hits in all four games, two multi-hit games, four doubles, scored one run and nine RBIs. Overall, she hit .538 with a .846 slugging percentage and a .538 on-base percentage.
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Juliana Presto (Arcadia / So., P / Easton, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Presto led Arcadia from the mound earning one complete-game shutout over Messiah. She held on to a no-hitter for five innings striking out a career-high 15 batters. The sophomore pitcher only walked two batters and allowed just two hits after the fifth inning.
MEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Bollinger (LVC / So., A / Glen Rock, Pa.) led LVC to two conference wins over Wilkes and King’s last week. Bollinger began the week with four goals and two assists for six points, scoring in every quarter against Wilkes in the 11-9 victory. The sophomore attack added four more goals against King’s in the 19-9 victory.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Marc Poust (Stevenson / Sr., G / Horsham, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Poust made 10 saves allowing only two goals to help secure the 19-4 win over Kean last week.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Carson Venis (Misericordia / Sr., A / Hillsborough, N.J.) had 14 points in the Cougars’ 1-1 week. Venus began the week setting a school record with nine goals against Neumann. He added an assist in the game as well. On Friday, he added four goals against Stockton.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Quinten Lyons (DeSales / So., G / York, Pa.) secured the win in goal in DeSales’ lone game of the week against Morovian. Lyons made 10 saves in goal and allowed eight in the 15-11 victory. He added a turnover and picked up two ground balls.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Caroline Murphy (Stevenson / Sr., A / Easton, Md.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Murphy led the Mustang offense with five goals on two assists, totalling seven points handing Stevens their first loss of the season.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Kozlowski (Stevenson / Sr., M / White Marsh, Md.) helped Stevenson to a 13-11 over Stevens, giving them their first loss of the season. Kozlowski caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls in the victory.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Lizzy Escudero (FDU - Florham / Jr., A / Bridgewater, N.J.) guided the Devils to a 2-0 week with victories over Kean and Lebanon Valley. She had six goals and 12 assists for 18 points. Escurdero’s top performance came against Kean where she scored four goals and dished out eight assists for a career-high of 18 points. She followed that performance with two goals and four assists for six points against LVC.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Meredith Conlin (Stevens / Sr., D / Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) totaled nine caused turnovers in a 1-1 week for the Ducks. In their victory over Drew, Conlin matched her own program record with seven caused turnovers. Later in the week, she added two more against Stevenson. The senior defender also picked up four ground balls in the two games.

MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Logan Horst (Messiah / Jr. / Rising Sun, Md.) represented Messiah at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna on Saturday. Horst placed second overall in the 5000m in a field of 75 runners crossing the line in 15:01.36.
MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Justin Le Cadre (King's / Sr. / Scranton, Pa.) earns his second consecutive conference weekly award of the season. Le Cadre posted two top-five finishes in the hammer throw and the shot put at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna over the weekend. He took fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.70m and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 15.04m. Le Cadre currently holds the top marks in the MAC this season for the hammer throw and shot put.
WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Esther Seeland (Messiah / Sr. / State College, Pa.) represented Messiah’s women’s track and field at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University on Saturday. Seeland turned in a dominant performance on the track placing first overall in the 800m with a top time of 2:05.01. Competing amongst a field of NCAA DI and professional runners, the senior bested the entire field of 123 runners. Her time, currently the fastest in Division III, is five seconds faster than the next closest mark.
MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Brenna Karnish (Misericordia / Sr. / Lansford, Pa.) finished top two in three throwing events at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna over the weekend. Karnish took first in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.24m. She took second in the shot put with a mark of 11.95m and the discus with a mark of 39.58. Karnish threw personal bests in the hammer throw and discus.
