ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – Stacey Hollinger, Lebanon Valley College’s associate director of athletics and senior women’s administrator, was named the 2022 recipient of the MAC Lou Sorrentino Award, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on Tuesday, May 3.

Named after former Lebanon Valley College athletics administrator, the MAC Lou Sorrentino Award is presented to the MAC athletics administrator who has had a sustained and influential role in conference and national affairs and embodies the NCAA Division III philosophy. Sorrentino served Lebanon Valley College as a student-athlete, coach, and athletic director for nearly 60 years, from 1950 until his passing in November of 2010. The award was established in 2012.

Hollinger has served in her current administrator roles since 2016. She coordinates the department’s assessment and data collection, manages the budget, scheduling and contracts, and works as the NCAA compliance coordinator and deputy Title IX administrator.

“Stacey’s impact on Lebanon Valley College Athletics is unmatched, and I can think of no one more deserving of this award,” said Rick Beard, LVC director of athletics. “As a coach, she created a culture that combined camaraderie and fun with a commitment to hard work and a drive to win. Now as an administrator, she provides valuable mentorship to our coaches with an emphasis on student-athlete achievement in the classroom and success on the field.”

LVC’s all-time winningest softball coach, Hollinger was inducted into the LVC Athletics Hall of Fame in October 2019 and the MAC Hall of Fame in May 2020. She compiled 428 wins, four conference championships, five NCAA Tournament berths, two NCAA regional final appearances, in 19 seasons at the helm of the squad. She earned MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year honors eight times.

Along with coaching softball, Hollinger manned the sidelines as an assistant field hockey coach from 1994-2005. That era included consecutive NCAA Final Four appearances and seven NCAA Tournament trips overall. She has also served on numerous conference and national committees throughout her coaching career and is still a go-to source of information and advice for other administrators.

As a student-athlete, Hollinger starred at Millersville University in field hockey and softball. She still owns numerous Millersville season and career records for field hockey in a career that led to two NCAA All-American awards. She graduated with a bachelor's of science in education degree in elementary education (mathematics concentration) and was inducted into Millersville’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002.
