MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (October 21, 2024)

23 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 14 – Oct. 20

NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending October 20, 2024. A total of 23 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 14, 2024 to Oct. 20, 2024.

CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Rory Lieberman (Lebanon Valley / So. / Danville, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to an outstanding 10th-place finish as a team at the Mike Woods Invitational on Saturday with a career-best time of 25:01.6. He finished 22nd out of 492 runners in a field that featured six nationally ranked teams while moving up to fourth on the program's top 15 list. LVC had the best five-runner average in program history at 25:37.9 at the race.

MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Bri Wagner (Misericordia / Sr. / Camp Hill, Pa.) tied the fifth-fastest time in school history (21:50) to finish 25th of 277 runners at the Connecticut College Invitational.

FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Tori Heiserman (York / So., F / Willow Street, Pa.) had a big week for the ninth ranked Spartans. In the midweek road win over Widener, Heiserman had a pair of goals to lead the way for York in their 3-0 win. Heiserman scored the game's first goal just 2:51 into the second half. Heiserman collected a loose ball just outside the left post and finished off the chance for the game-winning goal. Heiserman made it 2-0 with just over four minutes left in the game as she collected a rebound off a Libby Wild shot and poked it home for her second goal of the night. In the overtime loss to Messiah, Heiserman tied the game 4:01 into the second half. Senior Riley Buschert collected a loose ball outside the circle. She flipped a pass to Heiserman who completed the play with her sixth goal of the year. For the season, Heiserman has tallied six goals with two game-winners as a sophomore for the Green and White. 

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Richana Brown (Hood / Sr., GK / Dover, Del.) recorded 18 saves on the week including an impressive defensive effort against Eastern where she stopped 10 and kept the Eagles out of goal on multiple one-on-one situations. This effort led the Blazers to their first conference win since 2006. Her other eight saves kept the Blazers in the match against Stevenson on Wednesday night.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Maddie Trocki (DeSales / Sr., F / Whitehall, Pa.) had a terrific week helping DeSales post a 1-1 record scoring three goals in the two games. She had DSU's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Arcadia and added two goals in the 4-1 win over King's College on Saturday.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Doblovosky (Arcadia / So., GK / Point Pleasant, N.J.) tallied 14 saves over this past week. Doblovsky made 12 saves in the Knight's 2-1 win over DeSales. Doblovsky made two more saves in Arcadia's 3-0 win over Misericordia. 

FOOTBALL (#MACfb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Jacob Hunter (Misericordia / So., QB / Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in a 24-20 win over Widener. Ran for two scores on the first two possessions to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Threw for a 30-yard go-ahead TD in the third quarter.

MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Jacquez Mabin (Delaware Valley / Sr., DL / Philadelphia, Pa.) set a new Delaware Valley record in the Aggie's 33-8 victory over RV FDU-Florham recording five sacks. His game totals included an additional 1.5 TFL (6.5/36 yards), three forced fumbles, and eight total tackles against the Devils. 

MAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Jeremy Bours Jr. (Lebanon Valley / Gr., P / Cleona, Pa.) averaged 38.0 yards on two punts and threw a 26-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal in a 28-13 defeat at King's. Bours put one of his two punts inside the 20 and had a long of 46. On the final play of the first half, LVC lined up for a 36-yard field goal. However, the Dutchmen shifted into an offensive set with Bours taking the snap and finding Sheadan Makosy over the middle for a touchdown to get the Dutchmen within one at 14-13 heading into the break.

MEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Ryan Cogill (Alvernia / Sr., F / West Chester, Pa.) scored two goals in a 2-0 week for Alvernia. In a 2-0 win over Stevens on Wednesday, Cogill scored the game-winner in the 68th minute to break the 0-0 tie. Cogill then scored the equalizer in the 14th minute in an eventual 2-1 win over Widener on Saturday. 

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Evan Solley (Alvernia / Sr., GK / Oley, Pa.) went 2-0 in goal for Alvernia this week. Solley made six saves in a complete game shutout win over Stevens on Wednesday. He then picked up the win against Widener in a 2-1 victory over the Pride on Saturday. Solley made one save in 77 minutes in goal for the Golden Wolves, and the only goal he allowed was on a successful PK by the Pride.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Luca Campbell (Stevens / Sr., F / Montclair, N.J.) scored 2 goals and an assist in 4-0 win over Delaware Valley…notched an assist on Max Rokhsar's game-winning goal, crossing in a corner kick that Rokhsar headed in…Campbell added the final 2 goals of the game as the Ducks moved to 3-0 in conference.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Dalton Fitterling (Lebanon Valley / Gr., GK / Womelsdorf, Pa.) made eight saves in his fourth shutout of the season as LVC went on the road to defeat FDU-Florham 2-0 in the team's only game of the week. Fitterling faced a season-high 29 shots and made five of his eight saves in the second half. The Dutchmen successfully defended seven corner kicks, the most the Dutchmen have given up this season.

WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Charlotte Burke (Widener / Fy., M / Chesterfield, N.J.) and the Pride's only game of the week would result in a 2-0 run against MAC Commonwealth's Alvernia on Saturday afternoon. Burke would take three shots in her time on the field with two being on goal. Burke would also register her first collegiate career goal in the 72nd minute of the game to extend the Pride lead to two.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Brenna Ellenberger (Hood / Sr., GK / Baltimore, Md.) keeps making her mark in the Hood record books as she entered the Top 5 in saves in a season and saves in a career in her seven save shutout effort in a 0-0 draw against Salisbury. That shutout moved her to nine shutouts and tied for the program record in shutouts in a season. Ellenberger provided 11 saves in the 1-0 loss to conference foe Eastern where she saved six in the second half where she faced 11 of the 19 shots she faced all night.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Julia Beck (Misericordia / Jr., D / Langhorne, Pa.) had two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week.  Scored in the 90th minute to salvage a 1-1 tie at York.  Assisted on the game-winner and scored the second goal in a 6-0 win over King’s.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week 
Abby Fuchs (Arcadia / Jr., GK / Brick, N.J.) had 13 saves this past week. She had six saves in the Knights 2-1 win over Eastern University. She followed that game by having seven saves in Arcadia's 1-1 tie with DeSales University. 

MEN’S SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Swimmer of the Week

Brendan Stuhltrager (York / So. / Lititz, Pa.) powered the Spartans to a season-opening win over Arcadia in York's season opening win over the Knights. Stuhltrager notched a pair of individual wins and was a part of two relay wins. He won the 50 free with a time of 21.74 and won the 100 fly with a time of 51.63. He owns the conference's best time in the 100 fly while his 50 free time is currently third. He was the anchor leg of the winning 200 free relay team as the Spartans notched a time of 1:26.27. He was the third leg of the winning 200 medley relay team that finished with a time of 1:36.25. 

WOMEN’S SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Swimmer of the Week
Isabella Klemm (York / Jr. / Halethorpe, Md.) led the Spartans to a win in the season opener against Arcadia last week. Klemm recorded three wins and was a part of the runner-up 200 medley relay team to lead York to victory. Klemm won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.83. She was victorious in the 200 breaststroke, finishing the race in a time of 2:32.81 and completed her day with a win in the 200 IM as she touched the wall in a time of 2:18.90. She owns the top times in the MAC in the 100 and 200 breaststroke while her 200 IM time is second in the league. Klemm's three individual wins leads the way for York after one meet.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Ann Ofoegbu (Hood / Jr., OH / Falling Waters, W.Va.) set a program single match record in the five set match against St. Mary's of Maryland totaling 31 kills in the win. Ofoegbu posted of her top hitting percentages of the year at 30%

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Casagrande (Eastern / Gr., L / Coatesville, Pa.) recorded 43 digs and six service aces in Eastern's three matches this past week. The senior libero played excellent defense against No. 4 MIT on Saturday, finishing the match with 18 and a pair of service aces. Casagrande recorded 14 digs and a trio of aces in the Eagles' three-set sweep of Hood on Tuesday and added 11 more digs in their victory over WPI on Saturday. Casagrande needs just four more digs to reach 2,000 for her career. 

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week.
Mattea Penner (Lebanon Valley / Jr., OH / Newville, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to a 2-1 week including a huge 3-2 victory at Stevens with 45 kills and seven aces. The junior had 3.75 kills per set and a .336 hitting percentage. Penner started the week with a double-double of 20 kills and 10 digs with one ace in the victory at Stevens. The victory over Stevens was the first loss for the Ducks against MAC Freedom opponents since 2021, snapping a 25-match streak, and was the first time a conference team won in Hoboken since the Ducks joined the conference. Penner then had 13 kills and two aces in a tough 3-1 defeat to Messiah before finishing the weekend with 12 kills and four aces in a 3-0 victory over Cheyney. 

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week 
Bailey Axelrad (Stevens / Sr., L / New Orleans, La.) totaled 58 digs in a 2-2 week for the Ducks…added 11 assists and 3 aces…11 digs and three assists in 5-set loss to LVC…15 digs and 4 assists in three-set win over Marymount…picked up 16 digs and 2 assists on Saturday against Salisbury and William Paterson.
