NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – Janice Luck of Albright College was named the recipient of the 2025 MAC Lou Sorrentino Award. The recipient is chosen by the MAC Awards Committee.
The award, named after the former Lebanon Valley College Athletic Director, is presented to the MAC athletics administrator who has had a sustained and influential role in conference and national affairs and embodies the NCAA Division III philosophy. Sorrentino served Lebanon Valley College as a student-athlete, coach, and athletic director for nearly 60 years, from 1950 until his passing in November of 2010. The award was established in 2012.
Luck began her coaching career at Albright during the 1996–1997 season, shortly after graduating from the institution. As a student-athlete, she excelled in both field hockey and women's basketball, serving as a four-year starter in basketball and a three-year starter in field hockey.
In 2008 Luck was hired as co-athletic director at Albright. During her tenure as athletic director Luck oversaw the addition of the men’s and women’s lacrosse programs, men’s and women’s eSports teams and the reinstatement of men’s wrestling.
Luck was a highly engaged leader in Division III athletics. She served as Albright's Athletic Director from 2008 through Fall 2024. Nationally, she was a 23-year member of the WBCA, serving on three committees, in addition to her service on five MAC committees. Notable roles included her tenure as WBCA Commonwealth Conference Captain (2012–2015) and WBCA Top 25 committee (2012-2015).
In the MAC, Luck was a committee member of the following: Scholar Athlete (2006- present) Gender equity (2007), Committee Chair (2010-2013), Operations (2011-2014), and Centennial Celebrations (2012).
She was involved with the NCAA as a two-time member of the NCAA Women's Basketball Regional Selection Committee and most recently on the NCAA National Women's Lacrosse Championship Committee.
