MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (September 16, 2025)

NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending September 14, 2025. A total of 26 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Sep. 8, 2025 to Sep. 14, 2025.

CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Joey Wilson (DeSales / Jr. / Staten Island, NY) placed third overall at the Division II/III Challenge hosted by Kutztown, finishing the 8K in 26:13.60. His time was the fastest among all Division III competitors in the race.

MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Ellie Kozich (DeSales / So. / Mountain Top, Pa.) turned in another standout effort with a fifth-place finish at the Division II/III Challenge. She clocked 23:11.8 in the 6K, ranking as the top Division III runner in the field.

FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Claire Burrows (York / So., F / Bel Air, Md.) delivered two clutch goals in a 2-0 week for York. She netted the double-overtime game-winner at No. 24 Swarthmore, then scored the equalizer in a comeback victory at Bryn Mawr.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Angelina Catania (Eastern / So., GK / Hammonton, N.J.) posted a perfect week in net, stopping all 14 shots she faced. She made nine saves in a 1-0 shutout of Delaware Valley and added five more in a 6-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Gabi Moroney (Stevens / Sr., M / Granby, Mass.) tallied three goals in two matches as No. 25 Stevens defeated No. 9 Rowan and No. 22 Swarthmore by identical 5-1 scores. She scored twice, including the game-winner, against Rowan before adding another goal versus Swarthmore.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Lily Wierzbicki (Stevens / Sr., GK / Davis, Calif.)  led the Ducks to a pair of ranked wins with 18 total saves. She recorded a season-high 11 stops in a 5-1 upset of No. 9 Rowan and followed with seven more in a 5-1 victory over No. 22 Swarthmore.

FOOTBALL (#MACfb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Jeremiah Avrilien (Eastern / Jr., RB / Miami Gardens, Fla.) set a program rushing record with 184 yards in Eastern’s 24-14 victory over Alvernia. He averaged 7.1 yards per carry on 26 attempts and scored touchdowns from 22 and 4 yards out to lead the Eagles’ offense.

MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Thomas Arcaroli (Delaware Valley / Jr., LB / Cherry Hill, N.J.) fueled the Aggies’ defense in a 49-7 win over King’s with 10 tackles, including three for loss and two sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble, setting up a Delaware Valley touchdown in the decisive victory.

MAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Jonathan Hannevig (Lebanon Valley / Sr., WR / Spring City, Pa.) made a game-changing play in LVC’s 37-13 win over FDU-Florham, blocking a punt that was returned for a touchdown. The senior’s effort marked the third blocked kick of his career and gave the Dutchmen an early lead they never surrendered.

MEN'S GOLF (#MACgolf)
MAC Commonwealth Golfer of the Week
Nontaphat Veeratecha (Albright / So. / Bangkok, Thailand) earned his first collegiate victory at the Weyhill Classic with a career-best round of 69 (-3), the only under-par score in the 54-player field. The sophomore led all golfers with seven birdies, including four on the back nine where he carded a two-under 34. His performance also marked the first under-par round of his Albright career.
MAC Freedom Golfer of the Week
Jack Harris (Stevens / Fy. / Los Angeles, Calif.) opened his collegiate career with two top-three finishes as Stevens captured a pair of team titles. He tied for first at the William Paterson Fall Invitational with a round of 73 (+3), highlighted by three birdies, including one on the opening hole. At the two-day Ursinus Fall Opener, Harris tied for third with a two-round total of 151 (+7). He carded a 71 on day one with five birdies, then added two more in the final round to help the Ducks secure a five-shot victory over a strong regional field.

WOMEN’S GOLF (#MACgolf)
MAC Golfer of the Week
Jillian Fidler (Lebanon Valley / Jr. / Lebanon, Pa.) opened the season with a pair of top finishes, placing second at the Elizabethtown Invitational before winning the Susquehanna Invitational. She shot a 79 at Hershey Country Club to finish runner-up in a 30-player field, then fired a career-best 71 to claim the Susquehanna title by three strokes over a 74-player field that included Division II competition. The junior’s round of 71 set a new program record, surpassing the previous mark of 73.

MEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Gavin Huey (York / Jr., M / Drums, Pa.) contributed three goals and an assist as York went 2-0 on the week. He tallied a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Susquehanna, then scored the game-winner just 3:35 into a 2-0 victory against Lancaster Bible.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Chase Broughman (York / So., GK / Sparrows Point, Md.) posted back-to-back shutouts with four total saves in wins over Susquehanna and Lancaster Bible. The sophomore now owns a 0.67 goals-against average and an .846 save percentage this season.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Nathan Prex (Lebanon Valley / Sr., F / Cranberry Township, Pa.) broke Lebanon Valley’s career records for both goals and points in a two-win week. He scored the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over Gettysburg, then added a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at Cairn to push his career totals to 33 goals and 85 points. Prex is currently fifth in Division III among active student-athletes with 85 career points. 

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Logan Hicks (Lebanon Valley / Sr., D / York, Pa.) anchored a defense that surrendered just one goal in two wins. The Dutchmen limited Gettysburg to three shots on goal in a 2-0 shutout and held Cairn to two shots on target in a 3-1 win.

WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Lexi Mazzella (York / Sr., F / Bordentown, N.J.) scored three goals across two wins for the Spartans. She netted an insurance goal in a 3-0 victory over Lancaster Bible and added two first-half goals in a decisive win over previously unbeaten Bryn Mawr.

MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Isabella Serano (Stevenson / Fy., GK / Washington Township, N.J.) recorded 13 saves without allowing a goal across two matches. She made seven stops in a 1-0 win over St. Mary’s (Md.) and six more in a scoreless draw against Elizabethtown.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Abby Stephens (Arcadia / Sr., M / Forked River, N.J.) helped her team go 2-0-0 on the week, beating (RV) TCNJ at home and Farmingdale State on the road. Stephens tallied three points for the Knights, assisting the lone goal in a 1-0 upset of TCNJ before scoring twice in a 2-0 victory at Farmingdale State.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week 
Abby Fuchs (Arcadia / Sr., GK / Brick, N.J.) posted back-to-back shutouts, making nine saves in a 1-0 win over TCNJ and five more in a 2-0 victory at Farmingdale State. The senior now has four clean sheets on the season.

MEN’S TENNIS (#MACtennis)
MAC Commonwealth Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Lance Wilson (Messiah / So. / Ephrata, Pa.)  opened the fall season with a #1 Singles win (6-2, 6-3) and a #1 Doubles win (6-2) against the University of Scranton.

MAC Freedom Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Colin Brusse (Lebanon Valley / Jr. / Shrewsbury, Pa.) went 3-1 to finish second in the No. 4 singles flight at the King’s Invitational. He advanced to the final with wins over Penn College, Lycoming, and Wilkes before falling to Muhlenberg.

WOMEN’S TENNIS (#MACtennis)
MAC Commonwealth Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Ariella Stepleman (Stevenson / Sr. / Hilton Head Island, S.C.) led Stevenson to a 6-1 win over Marymount, pairing a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Allie Evangelista (Alvernia / Gr., MH / Nazareth, Pa.) posted 40 kills, 15 digs, and seven blocks across four matches, highlighted by a 17-kill performance in a 3-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy. She hit .245 on the week and added four service aces.

MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Jenna Schuda (Misericordia / Sr., Setter / Downingtown, Pa.) averaged 8.5 assists per set and surpassed 3,000 career assists while adding 17 kills and five aces across three matches for the week.

MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week 
Lianna Schmieder (Stevens / Fy., DS / Chesapeake, Va.) totaled 37 digs over six sets, including a career-high 21 in a sweep of Drew. She added six assists and a kill while committing no reception errors.
