Nye, De Falcis Earn Regional of the Year Awards

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Outdoor Track & Field) - Widener's Gabriella Nye and Lebanon Valley's Michael De Falcis earn USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Regional of the Year Awards. Nye was named the Metro Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year while De Falcis was named the Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year. 

Nye capped her final year of competition with numerous first-team honors, school records and conference records. At the 2026 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Nye claimed first-team honors in the 1,500-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. Nationally, she claimed two First Team All-American Honors in the steeplechase and 5,000-meter run. Nye finished with a time of 10:26.86 to finish fourth in the steeplechase, which was her fourth time ever competing in the event. She finished in 16:32.77 in the 5,000 to claim another fourth place finish. 

Nye, a biology/pre-phsycail therapy student, was honored with the 2026 NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete as she holds a 4.00 GPA. The Elite Scholar-Athlete award recognizes the true essence of student-athletes by honoring the individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

De Falcis competed in the National Championships in the Javeline event. He finished in third place with a throw of 70.16m, which is a career best. He now sits at No. 11 in NCAA DIII history. At the 2026 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, he finished in first-place with a throw of 66.15m, which marks his third overall victory in the event.
