MAC Weekly Awards Announcement (May 9, 2022)

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending May 8, 2022. A total of 19 student-athletes were recognized for performances from May 2-8, 2022.


BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Jace Fetteman (Lebanon Valley / Fy., C / Carlisle, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Fetterman led the Dutchmen to a 2-0 sweep over Widener in the MAC Commonwealth semifinal series. He recorded four RBIs on two doubles and a homerun. 

MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week 
Kyle Kingsbury (Lebanon Valley / Sr., P / Sunderland, Md.) struck out eight Widener batters in 6.0 innings of work in game one of the MAC Commonwealth semifinals over the weekend. He shut down the Pride offense allowing just two runs on seven hits. 

MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Zach Sekelick (Arcadia / Sr., OF / Alpharetta, Ga.) helped Arcadia to a series split at the MAC Freedom semifinals. Sekelick went 5-for-8 (.625) with three runs scored and an RBI. He went 2-for-4 in game one with an RBI and one run scored, then went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in a must-win game for the Knights to force game three of the series. 

MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week 
Owen Margolis (Arcadia / Sr., P / Berwyn, Pa.) earned the save in game two of the MAC Freedom semifinal series against DeSales. In 4.2 innings, Margolis allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out four Bulldog batters. 


SOFTBALL (#MACsb)

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week 
Madison Walter (Messiah / Sr., P / Manheim, Pa.) earns her fifth conference weekly award of the season. Walter got both wins in the circle for Messiah at the MAC Commonwealth Championship earning the honor of MVP for the tournament. She tallied 25 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work. The senior pitcher allowed just 10 hits and one walk on 56 batters faced. 

MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Siobhan Cottell (Stevens / Sr., 1B / Eatontown, N.J.) was named MVP of the MAC Freedom Championship after going 6-for-11 in three games. Cottell’s highlight of the weekend came in the title game against Arcadia where she slugged the game-clinching three run homerun in the third inning. 


MEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax)

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week 
Dylan Wolf (York / Gr., M / Forrest Hill, Md.) was named the MAC Commonwealth Championship MVP for scoring a hat trick against the defending champs Stevenson in the title game including the goal to put the Spartans in the lead with 4:25 left to play. 

MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Joe Cawley (Stevens / Jr., D / Syosset, N.Y.) held a strong defense for the Ducks in the MAC Freedom Championship to be named the tournament MVP. Cawley recorded five ground balls and one caused turnover in the semifinal game against Misericordia and added one goal with five ground balls and one caused turnover in the title game against Arcadia. 


WOMEN’S LACROSSE (#MAClax) 

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week 
Kiersten Blanchard (York / Jr., M, A / Pasadena, Md.) was named the MAC Commonwealth Championship MVP after helping the Spartans to their second-straight conference title. Across both games played, Blanchard scored 10 goals and added four ground balls, two turnovers and two caused turnovers. 

MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Lauren Cunniff (Stevens / Sr., G. / Montgomery, N.J.) led the Ducks to the 2022 MAC Freedom title over the weekend with wins over Misericordia and FDU-Florham. Cunniff recorded 24 saves over both games. The senior goalie held a dominant Devil offense that scored 15 or more goals in 15 this season to just 10 goals in the title game. 


MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)

MAC Track Athlete of the Week 
Owen Buhr (Lebanon Valley / Sr. / Hanover, Pa.) capped his senior outdoor track and field season winning three gold medals and a silver medal at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship at DeSales over the weekend. Buhr took first in the 110m hurdles, the 200m and the 4x100 relay while taking second in the 100m. 

MAC Co-Field Athlete of the Week 
Justin Le Cadre (King’s / Sr. / Scranton, Pa.) earns his third conference weekly award of the season. Le Cadre recorded three top-five finishes at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship. He started the weekend with a fourth place finish in the hammer throw, following with a third place finish in the discus. Le Cadre capped the weekend with a gold medal and a King’s program record in the shot put with a mark of 42.23m. 

MAC Co-Field Athlete of the Week 
Aaron Cosgrove (York / Jr. / Reading, Pa.) medaled in three events at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend at DeSales. Cosgrove took third in the long jump and third in the triple jump before taking first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55m to set a new school record that he previously set earlier in the season. 


WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)

MAC Track Athlete of the Week 
Esther Seeland (Messiah / Sr. / State College, Pa.) earns her seventh conference weekly award of the season. She swept her individual events at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships leaving with three gold medals. Seeland took first in the 1500m, 800m and the 400m. She also took third with the Falcons relay team in the 4x100m after Alvernia and DeSales. 

MAC Field Athlete of the Week 
Gina Dello Russo (Stevens / Gr. / Morris Plains, N.J.) earned a pair of first place finishes at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend. Dello Russo took gold in both the high jump (1.56m) and the long jump (5.61m), both wins being the first of her career in those events. 


MEN’S TENNIS (#MACtennis) 

MAC Commonwealth Men’s Player of the Week 
Brady McLucas (Lebanon Valley / So. / Palmyra, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. McLucas clinched the match victory at No. 5 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Stevenson's Sathwik Madasi. It was his second match-clinching victory of the week after going 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5 singles over Alvernia's Kevin Angeles in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals, earning him the honor of Most Valuable Player (MVP). 

MAC Freedom Men’s Player of the Week 
Aashi Kulakani (Stevens / So. / Coimbatore, India) was named tournament MVP after helping Stevens to a pair of 5-0 wins at the MAC Freedom Championships. In their semifinal match against DeSales, Kulakarni teamed up with Sebastion Wroe to beat the Bulldogs pair 8-0 and followed with a 6-0, 6-0 singles win. In the title match, Kulakarni and Wroe defeated the Wilkes pair 8-0 and followed with another 6-0, 6-0 singles win. 


WOMEN’S TENNIS (#MACtennis)

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week 
Nicole Honrade (Lebanon Valley / Jr. / Lititz, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. She was named the MVP of the MAC Commonwealth women’s tennis championship over the weekend. In the Dutchmen’s title match, Honrade’s 6-2, 6-2 singles win put the team within one point of clinching the MAC Commonwealth title. 

MAC Freedom Player of the Week 
Audrey Heaberlin (Stevens / Jr. / Lexington, S.C.) earns her second consecutive conference weekly award of the season. Hearberlin was named the MVP of the MAC Freedom women’s tennis championship over the weekend after going 2-0 in doubles with teammate Agatha Malinowski and 2-0 in singles.
