ANNVILLE, Pa. – The second-seeded Lebanon Valley women's tennis team defeated third-seeded Misericordia University on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 4-0 at the Shankroff Tennis Center in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Semifinals to advance to Saturday's conference final.
The Dutchmen (15-4) made quick work of the Cougars (7-5), winning the necessary two doubles matches in just under 30 minutes and then taking 45 minutes to win three of the singles matches to clinch the match victory. LVC won at number three doubles and then number two doubles to take the doubles point. The number one doubles match went unfinished with LVC leading. Erika Badner, Megan Martin, and Katie Berra won their singles matches to collect the needed singles points. LVC was leading in the other three matches that went unfinished, with all but one in the second set.
Inside the Box
- Berra and Martin were the first doubles court done at number three with a 6-0 victory. They improved to 8-3 as partners on the season.
- Sarah McComas and Nikki Denbowski were down 2-1 at number two doubles before rallying for a 6-3 win to clinch the doubles point. They improved to 5-3 on the year with the victory.
- Catherine Stone and Badner were up 4-3 in the number one doubles match at the time of the doubles point being clinched.
- Badner worked quickly for a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number four singles. Her third double bagel of the year improved her record to 10-6 in dual matches.
- Martin put the Dutchmen on the brink of winning with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number three singles. Her second double bagel of the season improved her dual record to 8-4.
- Berra clinched the match point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number five. The sophomore improved to an impressive 12-2 in dual matches.
- Stone won her first set at number two singles by a score of 6-2 and was leading 2-1 in the second set when the winning point was scored.
- Laken Kelly won her first set 6-3 at number six singles. Her match did not start the second set.
- McComas was leading 5-4 in the first set of her match at number one singles.
- The Dutchmen will play in their fifth conference title match in six years on Saturday.

LVC will have a rematch with top-seeded and nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in the MAC Freedom Final. The Ducks were 4-0 winners over DeSales University in the other semifinal pairing. The time of Saturday's match will be set after Wednesday's men's semifinal matches, with the location expected to be at the Bayonne Tennis Courts in Bayonne, New Jersey.
