NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending October 15, 2023. A total of 23 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Oct. 9, 2023 to Oct. 15, 2023.
CROSS COUNTRY (#MACxc)
MAC Men’s Runner of the Week
Shane Artis (DeSales / Sr. / Allentown, Pa.) had another strong week taking third place individually leading DeSales to a second place finish at the Battle of the Border Invitational at Rowan University on Saturday. His third place finish came with a time of 24:57.8 on the 8K course.
MAC Women’s Runner of the Week
Micah Gordley (Arcadia / Sr. / Lancaster, Pa.) recorded a personal record 6k time of 22:03.3, dropping over a minute from her time last weekend. Gordley finished fourth out of 263 runners at the Border Battle hosted by Rowan University. She also broke the school 6k record by 37 seconds.
FIELD HOCKEY (#MACfh)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Teagan Murrie (Messiah / F., Jr. / Charlottesville, Va.) led the Falcons offense with two goals in Messiah's two wins on the week. In the 8-1 win over Stevenson, Murrie scored the second goal of the game for the Falcons that propelled the Messiah offense. In the 2-0 win over Widener on Saturday, the Messiah offense struggles to put the ball into the ball of the goal. Teagan Murrie
broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute to score the game winning goal and prevent a potential upset from the Pride. Murrie's presence was felt all over on the offensive end with eight shots, with five of those shots on goal.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Sara Pique (York / D Sr. / Crofton, Md.) led the #8 Spartans to another 2-0 week as they picked up a pair of MAC Commonwealth wins for the week. On Wednesday, Pique powered a defense that did not allow a single shot in the Spartans' 4-0 win over Hood. It was the first time York held an opponent without a single shot since October 27, 2021. The shutout is the seventh clean sheet for the Green and White in 2023. In addition to spearheading the defense, Pique scored York's second goal on a penalty stroke in the third quarter. She also added an assist on York's final goal. On Saturday, Pique and the Spartan defense limited Stevenson to just five total shots and one shot on goal in their road win in Owings Mills. For the season, Pique has seven points on two goals and three assists while the Spartans are allowing just 0.62 goals per game with seven shutouts.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Lynda Farinella (Stevens / M Gr. / South Plainfield, N.J.) totaled eight points across a pair of Stevens victories that ran the Ducks' winning streak to eight. Against Misericordia, she netted a pair of goals with two assists and then added another goal in a 2-1 victory over Lebanon Valley. The South Plainfield, New Jersey native leads the league in game-winning goals and ranks third
in points.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Morgan Benner (DeSales / D So. / Coopersburg, Pa.) is the center back on the Bulldogs defense leading DSU to two wins last week and allowing just one goal in the two games. She helped DSU limit Arcadia to just 10 shots and one goal in the 2-1 win over the Knights and shutdown Misericordia to just four shots and no goals in the 4-0 win. In addition, Benner scored two goals, one in each game, both of which were the game-winners for the Bulldogs.
FOOTBALL (#MACfb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Jack Fallon (Delaware Valley / RB, So. / Doylestown, Pa.) ran for a career-high 145 with two touchdowns to lead DelVal to a 28-0 shutout on the road at FDU-Florham on Saturday. Fallon averaged 6.3 yards per carry on 23 attempts.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Joe Carchio (King’s / DB, Sr. / Brick, N.J.) led the Monarchs defense in a 35-21 win on the road at Lebanon Valley, upsetting the Flying Dutchmen on their homecoming. Carchio did it all for the Monarchs as he totaled nine tackles, 1.0 tackle for a loss of 11 yards, a forced fumble, an interception, and a pass break up in the game. The forced fumble came on LVC's opening drive
and shut the door early in the game and preserve the 6-0 lead. The break up came in an important drive to end the first half for the Flying Dutchmen, helping to hold LVC at bay and maintain a 19-7 halftime lead. Lebanon Valley was staging a comeback in the third quarter, but after pulling within 27-21 Carchio intercepted a pass on the next Flying Dutchmen.
MAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Jeremy Bours Jr. (Lebanon Valley / WR, Sr. / Cleona, Pa.) had a strong day punting the ball despite tough conditions. The senior averaged 30.7 yards per punt on six punts with a long of 51 in a 35-21 defeat to King's. Bours also rushed for 10 yards for a first down on a fake punt attempt in the second quarter leading to the first touchdown of the game for LVC. Two of Bours' punts went over 50 yards and he had one downed inside the 20.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Sean Fatiga (Widener / F, Sr. / Swedesboro, N.J.) helped lead the Pride to two wins this week, a 2-0 win against Arcadia and a 3-1 win against Hood. Fatiga's first goal against Arcadia came just two minutes into the game and his second came about ten minutes after the second half started to be the only scoring player for the Pride. Fatiga took three shots with two being on goal. In a Saturday night game in the rain, Fatiga opened the scoring gates four minutes into the game on a set piece. His second goal came two minutes out of half time to push the score to 3-0 from a strike on the right side of the 18. On the night, he took six shots with four being on target.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Evan Solley (Alvernia / GK, Jr. / Reading, Pa.) finished with 12 saves in a 1-0-1 week for Alvernia. In a 0-0 tie to #21 Lebanon Valley on Tuesday, Solley made eight saves to pick up his third shutout of the season. In a 2-1 win over York on Friday night, Solley made four saves and allowed just one goal to pick up the win in goal.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Adam Berrocal (Stevens / M, Jr. / Manville, N.J.) scored three times over a 17-minute stretch in a 4-0 win over DeSales. Entering in the 26th minute, Berrocal netted his first of the day 140 seconds later, capping off a beautiful series of passes. He'd score his second 10 minutes later and then completed his first career hat trick in the final minute of the first half. Already with a new career high in goals, he's tied for third in the MAC Freedom.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Dalton Fitterling (Lebanon Valley / GK, Sr. / Womelsdorf, Pa.) made 10 saves in a 1-0-1 week for the Dutchmen. The senior earned his third shutout of the season with six saves while facing 14 shots in a 0-0 tie at Alvernia to begin the week. He then made four saves and faced 18 shots on a wet day in a 4-3 victory over Delaware Valley.
WOMEN’S SOCCER (#MACsoc)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Meg Kalthof (York / F, Fr. / Bel Air, Md.) led the Spartans to an important MAC Commonwealth road win on Saturday. Kalthof scored both goals in the Spartans' Saturday win during a rain soaked match in Reading. The Spartans then got on the scoreboard in the 29th minute on a great individual effort by Kalthof. The freshman forward collected a long pass along the right
sideline. She beat three different Alvernia defenders before unleashing a shot on goal. Her shot eluded Alvernia keeper Brynn Bock as the ball crossed the goal line for the 1-0 Spartan lead. York tacked on their second goal of the game as Kalthof received a long outlet from midfield. She collected the pass and made a move on a hard charging Bock and finished off the chance in the open goal for the 2-0 lead. Kalthof's goal came in the 53rd minute of the match. For the season, Kalthof is now York's leading scorer with 11 points on four goals and three assists. The game-winner on Saturday was the first of her career.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Courtney Wysokowski (Stevenson / GK, Sr. / Lebanon, Pa.) posted a 2-0 record this past week with a 2-1 win over Immaculata and a 3-0 win over Albright. She made four saves against the Mighty Macs before posting a two-save shutout against the Lions. She has all five wins for the Mustangs this season and totals 71 saves with a 1.33 GAA.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Rouse (Stevens / M, Gr. / Greensboro, N.C.) had three goals across two games as the Ducks defeated both Mount Saint Vincent and DeSales. Against the Dolphins, the grad student had her first brace of the season and then Rouse netted the game-winner in the 87th minute in a 2-1 win over the Bulldogs.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Jocelyn Umana (Lebanon Valley / GK, Sr. / Ephrata, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to two wins this week with nine saves and her fifth shutout of the year. The senior keeper stopped four shots and faced seven in a 1-0 victory over Hood. She then saved five shots and faced 13 in a 3-1 Homecoming/Senior Day win over Delaware Valley on a rainy Saturday. Four of her five saves in the match came in the second half with the Dutchmen leading.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Darian Dildy (Stevenson / OH, Sr. / Virginia Beach, Va.) had an attack percentage of .444 in a three-match week. Had 7 kills to just one error on 15 attacks in the win over Widener (.400).
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Caitlin Liebriedis (Messiah / L, Jr. / Lancaster, Pa.) put together a great defensive week for the Falcons. Liebriedis totaled 42 digs in the Falcons three matches on the week. in the loss to Eastern, she tallied 20 digs and gave the Falcons a chance to make a play on each attack by the Eagles. Liebriedis continued to shine on the defensive end on Saturday. In the win over
New Jersey City, she totaled 12 digs. Liebriedis continued her great play with 10 more digs in the Falcons win over Misericordia.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Taylor McInerney (Lebanon Valley / OH Sr. / Annville, Pa.) had 43 kills and 5.38 kills per set in a 1-1 week for the Dutchmen. The senior hit .350 on the week recording 5.4 points per set. In a tight 3-1 defeat to Stevens, she had a match-high 18 kills and a .382 hitting percentage. The outside hitter added 25 kills to her weekly total in a 3-1 victory at Penn State Harrisburg while hitting .326. McInerney also had two digs in the match.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Madison Sappia (Stevens / L, Sr. / Wellington, Fla.) averaged 5.47 digs per set in helping Stevens to a perfect 4-0 week. She had at least 17 digs in each match and produced a career-high 31 in a five-set victory over No. 23 Ithaca. She also served six aces and handed out 14 assists.
MEN’S SWIMMING (#MACswim)
Collin Draminski (York / Sr. / Ellicott City, Md.) led the Spartans to a season-opening win over Arcadia on Saturday. Draminski earned a pair of individual victories in the team win. Draminski won the 50 free with a time of 21.30 and then touched the wall first in the 100 back with a time of 54.63. Draminski was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay team as the Spartans posted a time of 1:38.89.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING (#MACswim)
Magda Konopka (FDU / So. / Paramus, N.J.) earned three first-place finishes for FDU-Florham to help them earn two wins in their season-opening tri-meet against the College of Staten Island (138-83) and Mount Saint Mary (150-37). She earned two MAC qualifying times in the 100 free (57.91) and the 200 free (2:01.85) while also placing first in both of those events. She also helped lead the 200 free relay team to a first-place time of 1:47.39 with a relay opening split of 26.22.
