GLENSIDE – The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced the promotion of Regan Sammons '23 as the new Head Field Hockey Coach. Sammons will begin her duties immediately.
"I want to thank Athletics Director Brian Granata, the search committee, and the administration for this incredible opportunity," Sammons said. "It's an honor to be trusted with the program following my two years as an assistant. I am also extremely grateful to Coach Livingston, who coached me during my time as a student-athlete here and later welcomed me onto her staff as an assistant. I'm honored to carry forward the culture and foundation she built within this program. Lastly, I want to extend my gratitude to my family, who have supported me in all aspects of my life, especially throughout this process—I couldn't have done this without them."
Sammons brings continuity to the program, having served as the first-ever full time field hockey assistant coach at Arcadia during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. During her time as an assistant, Sammons helped guide the team to a semifinal appearance in 2023 and a championship game in 2024. Under her leadership, Arcadia saw individual success as well, with three players earning All-Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) honors in 2023 and four more recognized in 2024, including standout Morganne Dee, who was named the conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
"Coach Sammons is deeply invested in the success of the Arcadia field hockey program, which has become quite evident during her time as a player and coach at our institution," Granata said. "She connects well with our student-athletes and is extremely hard-working and organized. Her passion for Arcadia, our athletics program, and the field hockey team is remarkable. She is also someone who impressed us with her vision and plans for our program. Regan knows what it takes to be successful at Arcadia."
Before joining the coaching ranks, Sammons was a decorated field hockey student-athlete for the Knights. In her senior season, she earned Second Team All-Region IV honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), was named First Team All-MAC Freedom, and was recognized on the Academic All-MAC team. Her name is etched throughout the Arcadia record books as she holds the program record for points in a game (9), ranks fourth in career goals (31), fifth in career points (72), and is tied for 10th in game-winning goals (5).
"As an alum and someone who has been part of this program for several years, I'm incredibly honored and excited to step into the head coach role," Sammons continued. "Arcadia field hockey has been a huge part of my journey—as a player, a coach, and a member of this community—and I'm deeply invested in its continued success. I'm passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the field, and I'm ready to hit the ground running in doing so. I truly believe in the potential we have—not just to compete, but to do something really special."
Sammons graduated from Arcadia in 2023 with a degree in psychology.
