NEWTOWN, Pa. (Men's Golf) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its major awards for MAC Commonwealth men's golf on Wednesday afternoon. Stevenson's Zachary Wilcox was named the MAC Commonwealth Golfer of the Year while Hood's Griffin Cansler was named MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year. Stevenson's head coach Jeff Smith took home MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year honors.

The awards are nominated and voted on by the six conference men's golf coaches.

Stevenson’s Zachary Wilcox was named the MAC Commonwealth Golfer of the Year after capturing his second career individual conference title. Wilcox shot even-par at Golden Oaks to lead the field, punctuated by a first-round 71. Wilcox entered the postseason with a 75.8 scoring average and a season-low 68 at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate, which tied for the lowest round of the day in a national field.

Joining Wilcox at the top of the standings was Hood College’s Griffin Cansler. Cansler, who served as the Blazers' No. 1 golfer all season, earned All-MAC First Team honors by finishing tied for fourth at the championship. He was the lowest-shooting rookie in the Commonwealth field. Cansler’s year was highlighted by:
  • A 77.1 Clippd average.
  • A runner-up finish (-1) at a D2 event in the fall.
  • A steady +6 performance at the conference championship to lead Hood to a fourth-place team finish.
Stevenson head coach Jeff Smith was honored as the MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year for the first time in his career after guiding Wilcox to the individual title and the Mustangs to a runner-up team finish.
