Misericordia Baseball Takes Two at Arcadia to Advance to MAC Freedom Championship Series

The Misericordia University baseball team swept a doubleheader from Arcadia, 14-4, 19-1, to advance the MAC Freedom Championship series at DeSales.
 
Brooks Kanwisher had four hits with four runs scored in game one. Owen Daminger, Joe Peters, Drew Van Horn, Owen Cordner and Michael Duda all added two RBI. Alex Polombo scattered five hits over five innings to earn the win.
 
Arcadia got on the board first with a run in the first inning, but Misericordia tied the game in the second inning on a Vin Proietto ground out to make it 1-1.
 
The Cougars went in front with a four-run fifth inning.  Peters drew a bases-loaded walk followed by a two-run single to center field by Cordner.  Duda reached on an error to give the Cougars a 4-1 lead.
 
Arcadia cut MU's lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Cougars offense exploded for five more runs in the sixth. Daminger singled to right center to score two runs. Peters knocked him in with a single to left field and Duda plated two more with a single up the middle to extend the Cougars lead to 10-2.
 
Misericordia scored two more in the seventh inning on a Van Horn double to left center. MU added two more in the eighth on Gavin Dillard's single to center field and a Shane Patten single up the middle to make it 14-3.
 
Kanwisher had two hits with four RBI and a run scored in game two. Dillard added two hits with two RBI and two runs scored. Patten had a hit with two RBI a run scored. Zak Lussier tossed five scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win.
 
Misericordia scored its first two runs of the game in the second inning on an error and added another in the third inning on a Peters' single to right field.
 
Arcadia added a run in the bottom of third, but Misericordia added three more runs in the fourth inning on an error and a sacrifice bunt by Kanwisher to increase the lead to 6-1.
 
MU added another four runs in the sixth inning. Kanwisher knocked in two on a double to left center and Dillard tripled to center field to score another runner. An error that allowed Shane Patten to reach scored one more and Misericordia led 10-1.
 
Three more Cougar runs came in the seventh inning on a Dillard single to center field, a Patten triple down the right field line and a Daminger single up the middle to create a 13-1 MU lead.
 
Misericordia added six runs in the ninth inning. Cordner singled through the left side to score one and a bases loaded walk to Dylan Cerone scored another. Kanwisher and Jake McDonough were hit by pitches to score two more and a wild pitch allowed McDonough to score to increase MU's lead to 19-1.
