WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Indoor Track & Field) – The second day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships was completed on Saturday. Messiah’s Esther Seeland took first place in the women’s 800-meter run to claim the 2022 NCAA National Title and all-America honors.
Five student-athletes across four Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) schools earned NCAA Division III All-America honors over the weekend.
The MAC now has 117 NCAA Division III Individual National Champions, including six in women’s indoor track and field.
Seeland broke the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship record in the 800-meter run (2:05.75) and set the MAC overall record in the 3.000-meter run (9:47.41).
King’s Justin Le Cadre threw a career-best mark in the shot put (16.44 meters).

WOMEN
60-Meter Hurdles
Stevens sophomore Laura Matthews finished in fifth place with a time of 8.76 seconds. Matthews earned all-America honors for her performance.
800-Meter Run
Messiah junior Esther Seeland took first place in the 800-meter run to be crowned a national champion with a time of 2:05.75. Seeland now holds the championship record with this time, and now has the three fastest 800 meter times in Division III. She is a four-time all-American and two-time national champion in the 800 meter event between indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
3,000-Meter Run
Messiah junior Esther Seeland finished seventh in the 3,000-meter event with a time of 9.47.41, breaking a previous MAC record of 9:50.09. Seeland earned her second all-America honor of the weekend.
Triple Jump
Alvernia first year Shinelle Felix finished in 15th place with a mark of 11.46 meters.
Shot Put
Widener junior Anna Cooney finished in fifth place with a throw of 13.09 meters. Cooney’s performance earned her all-America honors.
MEN
Triple Jump
DeSales junior Xavier Phoenix finished in 18th place with a mark of 13.80 meters.
Shot Put
King’s junior Justin Le Cadre finished in third place with a career-best mark of 16.44 meters. Le Cadre also earned all-America honors.
DeSales senior Matthew Murray finished in 14th place with a mark of 14.90 meters.
Widener senior Alden Littlefield fouled, therefore disqualifying his throw.
