NEWTOWN, Pa. (Cross Country) – The 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals were completed on Saturday. Seven Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) runners earned automatic bids to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 18 in Newville, Pennsylvania, while 22 earned DIII Cross Country USTFCCCA All-Region Honors.
The first seven student-athletes from each region who are not part of a qualifying team were selected to participate in each championship. View the full selection here.
Dickinson College is hosting the championships on Nov. 18 at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania. The men's race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the women's race at Noon Eastern.
A live webstream of the championships will occur on www.NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
The top-35 runners are named all-region. The MAC had a total of 14 all-region women’s runners, and 8 all-region men’s runners.
Men’s Results
Mid-Atlantic / Metro
Misericordia was the top MAC team to finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional with a fifth-place finish with a score of 209. Messiah (218) finished in sixth, Lebanon Valley (336) finished in 11th, and York (343) finished in 13th to give the MAC four teams in the top-20.
King’s (633) finished in 21st and Alvernia (680) rounded out the MAC scoring finishing 23rd.
Messiah sophomore Louka Fetter was the top MAC individual finisher with a time of 24:53.6 for 13th in the 8K race. Fetter qualified for the NCAA Championships as one of the top-seven finishers not from regional champion Carnegie Mellon.
Joining Fetter for USTFCCCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors (top-35) were Misericordia’s Stephen Rowley (20th / 25:09.9) and Stevenson’s Hayden Schindler ( 27th / 25:36.0 ).
DeSales was the top MAC team to finish at the Metro Regional with a fifth-place finish and a score of 101. Stevens (246) finished eighth, Widener (272) finished 10th to give the MAC three teams in the top-20.
Eastern (445) finished 15th, Arcadia (508) finished 17th, and Delaware Valley (536) finished 18th.
DeSales senior Shane Artis finished in second place with a time of 24:56.5, just behind Haverford’s Peter LaRochelle. Joining Artis is Widener sophomore Thomas Flear. Flear finished in seventh place with a time of 24:59.8. Artis and Flear qualified for the NCAA Championships as one of the top-seven finishers not from regional champion Haverford.
Joining Artis and Flear for USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors (top-35) are DeSales’ Nick Manidis (13th / 25:23.0), Davis Trump (14th / 25:26.5), and Matthew Santacoloma (23rd / 25:38.9).
Women’s Results
Mid-Atlantic / Metro
Misericordia was the top MAC team to finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional with a third-place finish with a score of 130. Lebanon Valley (215) finished in sixth, Messiah (351) finished in 15th, and Stevenson (588) finished in 18th. King’s (594) and York (612) finished in 21st and 22nd respectively, while Hood (617) and Alvernia (632) rounded out the scoring for the MAC finishing 24th and 25th respectively.
Lebanon Valley graduate student Lauren Bunke was the top MAC individual finisher with a time of 21:32.3 for sixth place in the 6K race. Joining Bunke is Misericordia’s Brianna Wagner. Wagner finished 11th place with a time of 21:43.5. Bunke and Wagner qualified for the NCAA Championships as one of the top-seven finishers not from regional champion Johns Hopkins.
Joining Bunke and Wagner for USTFCCCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors (top-35) are Hood’s Aylene Noy (26th / 22:22.3), Lebanon Valley’s Coyla Bartholomew (21st / 22:05.6), Misericordia’s Grace Gallagher (14th / 21:54.9) and Katherine Jones (15th / 21:55.9).
Widener was the top MAC team to finish at the Metro Regional with a third-place finish and a score of 95. Rounding out the top-10, DeSales (264) finished in eighth place and Arcadia (264) finished in ninth place. Stevens (339) placed 12th, Eastern (505) placed 16th and Delaware Valley (507) rounded out the MAC scoring placing 17th.
Widener’s Gabrielle Nye was the top MAC individual finisher with a time of 21:56.4 for a second place finish in the 6K race. Joining Nye is Arcadia’s Micah Gordley who finished fourth with a time of 22:08.9. Nye and Gordley qualified for the NCAA Championships as one of the top-seven finishers not from regional champion TCNJ.
Joining Nye and Gordley for USTFCCCA All-Metro Region honors (top-35) are Arcadia’s April Browne (22nd / 23:07.8), DeSales’ Shae Zeitler (30th / 23:21.4), Widener’s Liz Egan (13th / 22:47.1), Kathryn Long (21st / 23:03.8), Jaden Sweely (29th / 23:20.8), and Chris Tran (34th / 23:29.5).
