Tim Halter Named Hood Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

FREDERICK, Md.--Tim Halter, who served as an assistant coach at Hood College from March 2008 - May 2009, will inherit the head coaching position of the Blazers' men's and women's tennis programs for the 2012-13 academic year.

Halter replaces Djerdj Matkovic, who served as the head coach of both programs during the 2011-12 season.

Halter currently serves as the head tennis professional at Cattail Creek Country Club in Glenwood, Md., where he provides private, semi-private and group instruction to adults and juniors.

From 2007-2009, Halter was the program coordinator for the city of Frederick, where he developed, scheduled and coordinated various recreational programs. Additionally, Halter has served as the summer tennis camp director at Cattail Creek, a summer tennis instructor with the city of Frederick, a tennis instructor at the West Winds Tennis and Fitness Center in New Market and a tennis trainer at the Ida Lee Tennis Center in Leesburg, Va.

A 2007 graduate of Shepherd University with a regents bachelor of arts degree, Halter was a four-year letterwinner who led the Rams to three West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) titles. He played one singles and doubles from 2003-05, won five individual conference championships and participated in the NCAA Division II national tournament in 2002, 2003 and 2005.

Halter currently resides in Woodbine, Md.
